Why act early in Green Street

Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By that stage the damage has spread inside. Looking from above picks up the early signs. In a small place like Green Street, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Our price is from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included.

Why us?

  • Thermal imaging and drone inspection where they help
  • More than 5,000 surveys completed

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Green Street

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We’ll tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey chimney stacks, fragile roofs and tall and steep roofs, and people most often book us about wind damage high on the roof and ponding and splits on a high flat roof.

Some older homes in villages like Green Street are listed or in a conservation area. A look from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

Different roofs, different checks

Large commercial roofs

Many commercial roofs have fragile sheets or roof lights. A drone keeps everyone off them.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. A drone avoids that.

What we do, step by step

Photographs are taken throughout the visit, so the report shows exactly what we saw. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available. Most surveys take about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Older roofs in small places like Green Street can have low, tight loft spaces, so it helps to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Note where any stains or damp appear
  • Tell us where we can park nearby
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand

How to book

A quick phone call is usually the easiest start: phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will ask a few questions about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Green Street: your questions answered

How do I find out if my home in Green Street is listed?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Will you come out to Green Street?

Yes, Green Street is covered. We survey roofs across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access.

What does the report include?

Written findings with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations, in order of urgency where relevant. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection and a structural check, and the Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll explain what’s needed.

How long does a drone roof survey take?

The visit typically takes between one and two hours for most houses, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. We will confirm what to expect when we arrange the visit.

What if my home is near an airport?

That depends on where the roof is. Inside a flight restriction zone, we need permission first. Book early if you think you may be affected.

Honest limits

We only report everything that’s safely in view on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:

  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
  • A structural engineer’s report

If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and does not.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Chimney stacks
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs

When to book a survey in Green Street

Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Older slates and tiles break easily, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

Here are some of the things we see often:

  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
  • Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters

If you run a business near Spires Shopping Centre, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.

Before you book any roof surveyor

  • Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • When you’ll get the report
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection
  • Their track record with similar roofs

What to expect from a roof survey

Tips from our surveys

Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:

  • A word with neighbours beforehand helps
  • Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Clear a spot on the drive or lawn

We email the report to you, including the close-up photos taken by the drone. Each finding is explained in plain words, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant.

After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone survey can show what has shifted.

Airspace, weather and Green Street roofs

Elstree Aerodrome is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

Take a building like Parkside Community Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If you live in an older home near St Michael and All Angels Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
