Drone Roof Survey in Northease
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Northease. We have completed more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
Can I check my roof myself?
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground.
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date.
About our drone roof survey in Northease
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you’re worried about flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and slates or tiles shifted by high winds, we can find out what’s behind it, on flat roofs on upper floors, chimney stacks and valleys and parapet gutters alike.
Older buildings in small places like Northease may be listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.
The report is written in plain words, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

What a survey costs
To price your survey, we look at:
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- The shape of the roof and its details
Our price is from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, inc. VAT, and we can help you choose.
Helping us price your survey
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- The property’s address and postcode
- What made you get in touch
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine. To get started, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
How the survey works
Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes about 1–2 hours for most houses, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. If you have questions on the day, just ask. Cottages and farmhouses around Northease frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
How to prepare
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at

Leave it or get it looked at?
Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Finding them now means less to put right. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Northease, driving rain gets into any weakness, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.
Why us?
- Thermal imaging and drone inspection where they help
- Two decades and more of roof surveys
- Covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- An independent look at the roof
How the survey changes by roof type
Ridges and hips
Ridges and hips are the most exposed parts of a pitched roof. A drone shows cracked mortar and loose ridge tiles.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. The drone sees them without touching them.

Common questions in Northease
How do I find out if my home in Northease is listed?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Will you come out to Northease?
Yes, Northease is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
Does the drone show the underside of the roof?
No. It sees only the outer surfaces. The underside tells us things the drone cannot, so we check the loft too where we can.
How many surveys have you done?
Over 5,000 surveys so far, over more than 20 years, and 98% of customers are satisfied.
Will the drone film my neighbours?
The camera stays on your roof. We inspect only the roof you’ve asked about. A word with next door beforehand is a good idea.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We note visible signs like sagging or deflection, but we are not structural engineers and don’t carry out calculations. If we think you need an engineer, the report says so.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes, every report has them. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, which makes the report easy to follow.
Drones, thermal imaging and Northease roofs
Northease lies within about 4 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
If your house is among the older ones in the streets near St Peter's Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. With Monk's House about 0.7 miles east, the area around Northease has a long history. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition. Take a building like Priory School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.
