Questions from Sunningwell
Do you cover smaller places like Sunningwell?
Yes, Sunningwell is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Is my home in Sunningwell listed or in a conservation area?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where it applies and safe. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
We carry out surveys seven days a week. To arrange a date, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Do you need to get into the loft?
Where it’s relevant to the survey and there is safe access, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps, and if the loft cannot be reached safely, the report says so.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only where it is safe to do so. We check everything that can be seen safely: from ground level, from windows, from inside the roof space, from the roof where it’s safe and by drone where applicable. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
What do I do if water is coming in?
A roofer should handle temporary protection. Photograph the damage first if you can do so safely. We can record the damage in our report.
Storm damage roof report in Sunningwell
If your roof has been damaged, stay safe first. Take photos from ground level or from windows, and don’t climb onto the roof. Emergency temporary protection, like covering an opening, is a job for a roofer. Our report records the damage so you have an independent record to give your insurer. Hold on to receipts for anything you pay for. Common reasons to book are gutters pulled loose in the wind and loose or broken chimney pots and cowls, on ridges and hips, flashings and chimney stacks.
Many homes in small places like Sunningwell face open ground, so storms hit ridges, verges and chimneys hard. Damp in old stone, brick or timber walls is slow to dry out, so it pays to find the cause quickly. A written record also helps if you need to explain it to anyone else.
What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

What affects the cost of storm damage roof reports
Prices always include VAT. The things that change the price are:
- The shape of the roof and its details
- House, block, shop or office
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- Roof area
Every price we give includes VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Our price is from £150, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.
Getting in touch
When you call or email, these details help:
- The property’s address and postcode
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
To arrange a survey, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. You’ll know the price before anything is booked.
How it works
The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photographs go into the written report. It usually takes between one and two hours at a house, and longer if the damage is spread across a large roof. Somewhere like Sunningwell needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect everything that’s safely in view, inside and out.
- You tell us what happened and whether a roofer has made the roof safe.
- Inside, we look for signs of water in the loft and rooms below.
- We view the roof from safe positions.
- Storm damage and older wear are recorded separately where we can.
- You receive the written report with photographs.
How to prepare
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Leave side gates unlocked
Getting a price

Why get it checked now?
Your policy may say how quickly you need to report damage. Check the wording and tell your insurer as soon as you can. Our report can then add a clear record. Matching old materials, like handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, from £400 including VAT. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.

Do you need a storm damage roof report in Sunningwell?
Some people book because a claim has been questioned. You get an independent record of what the roof shows. What happens next is up to the insurer.
A survey can pick up problems like:
- Damage from fallen branches or debris
- Damaged gutters and fascias
- Damaged flat roof membrane
- Flashings pulled away from walls or stacks
For businesses in and around places such as Westgate Shopping Centre, a quick answer on where water is coming in keeps a business running.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
- How long the report takes to arrive
- Their track record with similar roofs
- What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
Storm damage roof reports around Sunningwell
With Appleton Manor about 3.2 miles west, Sunningwell sits in an area with a long building history. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. Older buildings in west Oxfordshire frequently have Cotswold stone slate roofs, and some Oxfordshire villages still have thatch. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Each of these roof types has its own typical places for water to get in.
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Leonard, the leak may come from a chimney, a valley or tired lead rather than the covering itself. If you let a flat or house near Radley station, a clear finding on where water gets in helps you brief a roofer right away.

What you can safely check yourself
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
It helps to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book.

What we can’t see
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- A decision on your insurance claim
- Estimates of repair costs
- What your policy covers, which depends on its wording
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will suggest the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.
