Thermal roof surveys near Brantham

Thermal roof survey in Brantham

Thermal imaging is part of our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. It also includes a drone inspection where it applies, a structural analysis and a same-day report. An in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up are included too. To book, just ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and what you’ve noticed. For big commercial roofs, we quote on size and access. We survey flat roofs, pitched roof slopes and ceilings below the roof, and people most frequently book us about damp around chimneys and parapets and cold areas below the roof.

Somewhere as small as Brantham, older roofs are frequently steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Weather and airspace are looked at before the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

Letting agents can arrange access with tenants. We survey seven days a week, which helps when tenants work during the week.

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out by urgency where it matters, which helps when budgeting.

Roof by roof

GRP fibreglass roofs

GRP roofs are laid over timber boards, so trapped moisture can affect the deck. The camera can help show where to look.

Felt and asphalt flat roofs

Built-up felt and asphalt roofs can hide trapped water for a long time. The camera can give clues to where it is sitting, given suitable conditions on the day.

Your questions about thermal roof surveys in Brantham

Do you cover smaller places like Brantham?

Yes. Brantham is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work right across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is Brantham in the area you cover?

Yes. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and Brantham is part of that. Just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and let us know about the property, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.

Does the weather affect a thermal survey?

Conditions on the day affect the results. It works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof surface and little wind. Rain and strong wind can make the images less clear, so we talk through the forecast when you book.

How much does a thermal roof survey cost?

It’s part of the Premium Survey, from £400. You also get an in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up. For bigger commercial roofs, we quote on size.

What do I do with the report?

We email you the written report with photographs and recommendations. You can use it to talk to a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent, whichever applies.

Is thermal imaging useful on pitched roofs?

It can help, but the results are often less clear than on a flat roof. Slates and tiles over a ventilated space can mask what’s below, so we combine it with an inspection from the loft where there is safe access.

How long will you be at the property?

Expect it to take between one and two hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. The written report follows by email, on the timescale of your package.

Why act early in Brantham

Heat lost through a roof costs money every winter. The camera can point to gaps and thin areas in the insulation, so improvements can go where they’re needed. In a small place like Brantham, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package you pick makes a difference too. We’ll give you the figure before anything is booked.

Can I check my roof myself?

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in.

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking and it will help the survey.

What a thermal roof survey looks like in Brantham

Brantham is within about 1 mile of the coast, and wind off the sea can be strong. Calm, dry conditions after a sunny day suit thermal imaging best, so the visit is planned around the forecast. If the drone is used for your survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.

Common roof problems in Brantham

Building owners and managing agents use thermal surveys to plan work on larger flat roofs. It can suggest which areas may be wet and which seem dry, so moisture readings can be targeted.

Common reasons to book include:

  • Wet areas near outlets and upstands
  • Damp patches with no obvious cause
  • Gaps in loft insulation
  • Heat escaping through the roof

The streets around a church such as Church of St Michael and All Angels are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

What’s in a roof survey

How the survey works

We do not take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. The survey usually takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Older rural homes like those around Brantham can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we can’t see is noted.

  1. We talk through the roof, any damp or leaks, and the weather expected on the day.
  2. We check the roof from the ground, from windows and from the roof itself where it’s safe.
  3. Thermal images are taken to show differences in surface temperature.
  4. Areas that look unusual on the camera are checked with moisture readings where possible.
  5. You get a report with thermal images, photos and our recommendations.
