Drone roof surveys in Allen's Green

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Allen's Green

We carry out drone roof surveys in Allen's Green and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly seven days a week. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or email us. If you’re worried about wind damage high on the roof and cracked mortar along the ridge, we can find out what’s behind it.

In a village or hamlet like Allen's Green, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

Most points in the report come with a picture, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

Airspace, weather and Allen's Green roofs

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.

With Much Hadham Palace about 2.2 miles north-west, the area around Allen's Green has a long history. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. Take an older house close to Former Church of St Anne: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What a survey costs

To price your survey, we check:

  • Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
  • Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
  • Which survey package you book
  • The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

Helping us price your survey

These details help when you get in touch:

  • The property’s address and postcode
  • Any photos you have, taken from the ground or a window
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
  • The kind of building and roof involved

To get a price for drone roof surveys in Allen's Green, call 07833 053749 or email us. A few details about the property and the roof help us price the survey accurately.

What we look for on each type of roof

Valleys and parapet gutters

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. It is almost impossible to see from the ground, but it’s plain to see from the air.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep roofs are risky to walk on. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover

Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:

  • Flights in strong wind or a downpour
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you before you book. What our survey covers.

The survey, step by step

It is useful to start with what’s prompted the survey: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. That way we can focus on what matters to you. The visit typically takes about 1–2 hours for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. For a village or hamlet like Allen's Green, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it’s safe.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Point out any leaks or damp patches
  • Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey

Book a survey

If you are buying, it’s useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. Otherwise, simply call 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.

Advice

Should I look at the roof myself first?

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That’s where a survey comes in.

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking, as it helps us focus the survey.

Why act early in Allen's Green

Leaving a slipped slate or a blocked valley can turn a small fault into a leak. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller, whatever height the roof is. Matching old materials, like handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

Prices start from £150, including VAT, for a Basic Survey. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both inc. VAT. We confirm the price for the job before you book.

Questions from Allen's Green

Is drone flying allowed in Allen's Green?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

Is Allen's Green within the area you cover?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

Will you go up on the roof?

Not unless it’s safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where applicable, a drone, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.

What happens after the survey?

You receive the written report by email, with photos and recommendations. It is yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you as you book.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it does not include calculations. We’ll recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.

How soon will I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed, ready to forward.
