Drone roof survey in Anstey
Our price is from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we will say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, large and complex roofs and valleys and parapet gutters, and the problems we are asked to look at most are debris building up in hidden gutters and moss building up on slopes and in gutters.
Some older homes in villages like Anstey are listed or in a conservation area. A look from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent.

When to book a survey in Anstey
Many roofs are never seen properly from ground level. Rear slopes, valleys and the tops of chimneys are hidden. Problems in those places often go unseen until they leak.
It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
Take a building like Anstey First School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
What to check before booking
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- What exactly goes into their report
- How long the report takes to arrive
- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance

Common questions in Anstey
Is drone flying allowed in Anstey?
Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Will you come out to Anstey?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.
Do you take photos of the roof?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found.
How soon will I get the report?
That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we’ll explain what’s needed.
What’s in the survey report?
Written findings with photographs, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations, by urgency where it matters. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection and a structural check, and the Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.
Why get it checked now?
Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. Our report shows the condition of each area. That helps you put the work in order. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package you pick makes a difference too. The price is always agreed first.

What we look for on each type of roof
Ridges and hips
The ridge takes wind from both sides. From above, we can see loose ridges and missing mortar.
Chimney stacks
From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. We record what we find with photos.
How the survey works
The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photographs go into the written report. It typically takes about one to two hours at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. Somewhere like Anstey needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect everything that’s safely in view, inside and out.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- If you are buying, let the agent know when we are coming
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at

Advice
What you can safely check yourself
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Drone roof surveys around Anstey
We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles, with flat-roofed extensions, dormers and garages common everywhere. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.
The streets around a church such as Church of St George are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.
