Drone roof survey in Dunsden Green
A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. The camera stays on your roof, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it’s worth letting them know about the visit. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. If you are worried about gaps where slates or tiles have gone and damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Villages like Dunsden Green often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
The written findings come by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

DIY checks: what’s safe
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That part is for a survey.
What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. Its limits include:
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- A structural engineer’s report
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check
- Chimney stacks
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Tall and steep roofs
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
How the survey works
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. The inspection then takes about 1–2 hours at most homes, and longer for a large or complex roof. In a small place like Dunsden Green, access is typically the main thing to plan. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

Advice
What affects the price in Dunsden Green
Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before booking. These are the things that affect it:
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- House, block, shop or office
- The size of the roof
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
Booking your survey
You do not need to know any roofing terms. Just let us know:
- What made you get in touch
- The property’s address and postcode
- The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
We survey roofs seven days a week. To arrange a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
Dunsden Green questions
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Dunsden Green?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
Is Dunsden Green within the area you cover?
Yes, Dunsden Green is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
What does the report include?
A written report with photographs, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection and a structural check, and the Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.
How long does the survey take?
Expect it to take between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. You will then get the report by email, on the timescale of your package.
Can you survey in bad weather?
Light rain is typically fine; heavy rain and wind are different. In strong wind or heavy rain, a drone cannot fly and access may not be safe, so we’d move the date with you.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Not unless it’s safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where applicable, a drone, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Tell us about it when you book and we will explain what’s needed.

Airspace, weather and Dunsden Green roofs
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates, with flat-roofed extensions, dormers and garages common everywhere. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.
For an older house near a landmark such as All Saints Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. With Greys Court about 3.9 miles north, the area around Dunsden Green has a long history. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition. Shop and office owners around The Oracle may find that big, flat commercial roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images help most.
