Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Sibley's Green
A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it cannot see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there is safe access, we look in the loft space too, because the underside tells its own story. Inside and out together tell you far more. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. Where the loft cannot be reached safely, we note it. If you’re worried about ridge and hip pieces working loose and gaps where slates or tiles have gone, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
In a village or hamlet like Sibley's Green, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
It is not only a list of defects. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, so you can plan your next steps.

How the survey works
Before we start, let us know why you’ve booked: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. The visit typically takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a hamlet or village like Sibley's Green, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
- We also look inside the loft space where it’s safe.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared

Advice
Checking the roof from ground level
What you cannot do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Sibley's Green
With Horham Hall about 1.9 miles west, Sibley's Green sits in an area with a long building history. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.
If you look after a building such as Putteridge High School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Sibley's Green: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Sibley's Green?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
How do I find out if my home in Sibley's Green is listed?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Can you fly a drone in central London?
It depends where in central London. Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas that need NATS permission. We check each address first, and fall back on other viewpoints if we cannot fly.
How long does a drone roof survey take?
It usually takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. That includes the checks before the drone goes up.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the roof space, someone has to give us access.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only where it’s safe to do so. We inspect everything that’s safely in view: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Just say which days work for you.
Landlords, agents and block managers in Sibley's Green
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.
Shared roofs need a little more planning: we need access agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the survey around it.
What this survey cannot tell you
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:
- Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before booking. The full list of what we check.
