Why it is worth a survey now in Woolhampton
Not every leak is in the membrane. ELD helps rule the membrane in or out so attention can go to the right place. In a small place like Woolhampton, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
All our prices include VAT. Electronic leak detection is quoted for your roof, because the method depends on the roof. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking.

About our electronic leak detection in Woolhampton
ELD is a way of pinpointing breaches in a flat roof’s waterproofing membrane. It works with an electrical current that passes through the membrane only where there’s a breach. That lets us locate holes that are too small to see, so your roofer can repair them. The results come in a report with photos. We survey commercial flat roofs, roof terraces and balconies and flat roof membranes, and people most frequently book us about holes around roof penetrations and leaking laps in the waterproofing.
Somewhere as small as Woolhampton, flat roofs tend to be on extensions, garages and converted outbuildings. The checks are the same as anywhere: outlets, upstands, edges and the covering itself. We simply plan the journey and access beforehand. Garages and outbuildings are easy to forget, so mention any you want included when you book.
Most points in the report come with a picture, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

What electronic leak detection does not cover
Before you book, it is worth knowing what a survey won’t do:
- Build-ups without a suitable layer below
- Moisture spread under the membrane
- Sections we cannot safely access

Woolhampton: your questions answered
Will you come out to Woolhampton?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.
Is my home in Woolhampton listed or in a conservation area?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.
How soon will I get the report?
That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. Reports are sent by email.
How much time does ELD need?
It normally takes longer on a large roof than a small one, and the build-up of the roof makes a difference too.
What’s in the survey report?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, finishing with recommendations. The most urgent items are made clear.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll explain what’s needed.

What happens on the day
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. The survey usually takes as long as needed for the roof’s area and construction, which we’ll explain when we quote. In a small place like Woolhampton, access is typically the main thing to plan. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

What we look for on each type of roof
Inverted and paved roofs
Inverted roofs have the insulation on top of the waterproofing and that changes how testing works.
Green and ballasted roofs
Some layers may need lifting for testing. We discuss this before quoting.
What you can safely check yourself
You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.
Electronic leak detection around Woolhampton
Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Alongside them, flat-roofed extensions, dormers, garages and commercial units are common almost everywhere.
Landlords with a home close to Midgham station may find that the flat roof over a let home is worth a look before it becomes a tenant complaint. Take a building like Woolhampton C.E. Primary School: schools and public buildings often have big flat roofs, and their outlets and upstands need regular checks. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter, any flat roof added at the back or on a dormer is likely to be far younger, and less durable, than the main roof.
