Prices for roof leak investigations in Adversane
When we price a survey, we consider:
- Building height and the viewpoints available
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package you pick makes a difference too. The price is always agreed first.
What to let us know when you get in touch
A little information up front helps. It is useful to include:
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- The address and postcode of the property
- Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
Most bookings start with a short call: ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will ask a few questions about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Roof leak investigations for homes and businesses in Adversane
The aim is to find where the water is getting in and explain it. You get a written report with photos showing the likely entry point and the route the water is taking, and recommends what should be done. Whoever does the work then has a clear starting point. The investigation finds and explains the cause, and the repair itself is a separate job. We survey lead flashings, slate and tile slopes and rooflights and dormers, and common reasons people get in touch are wet patches on loft insulation and water that shows only in certain storms.
For a small place like Adversane, the inspection is the same as anywhere: we simply plan the journey and access ahead. Let us know where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, plus any earlier repairs. Photographs of the stain and of the roof from outside are helpful too.
If any part of the leaking roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You will know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t.

Can I check my roof myself?
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Do not go up yourself.
Adversane questions
Do you cover Adversane?
Yes, Adversane is within the area we cover. We work right across London and South East England. You can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and some details.
Will you come out to Adversane?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Can you always find the source?
Not every leak can be pinned down in a single visit. Many leave clear signs, but intermittent leaks that need particular weather can be harder. We report what we found and the likeliest sources.
What should I do before you arrive?
Note when the leak appears and what the weather was doing, and take photos. Move stored items away from the loft hatch. Keep away from any light or socket that water is reaching.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, once access has been agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so we need permission from whoever owns or manages the building. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.
How experienced are you?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years, and 98% of customers are satisfied.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Just say which days work for you.
What a roof leak investigation looks like in Adversane
Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls are typical of older Sussex houses. A few old Sussex buildings still carry heavy Horsham stone slabs. Different coverings let water in at different points, which shapes where the search starts. The wider area around Adversane has a long history of building, with Old Place Manor about 3.2 miles south-west. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters.
Landlords with a home close to Billingshurst station may find that a clear finding on where water gets in helps you brief a roofer straight away. If you look after a building like The Weald School, a leak through a large roof is often found some distance from where the water shows inside.

What we do, step by step
When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. After that, we look at everything we can see safely, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where applicable. The survey normally takes about 1–2 hours at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. Somewhere as small as Adversane, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- We start with your notes and photos of the leak.
- We examine the damp area and the rooms near it.
- In the loft, we follow any signs of water back towards the roof.
- Outside, we check flashings, valleys, chimneys, gutters and flat roof details from every safe vantage point.
- You receive a report with the likely source, photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in
Book a survey
When you’re ready to go ahead, call 07833 053749 or email us. From there it is a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day, weekday or weekend.

Practical tips
Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:
- Mention any plumbing above the damp area
- Stay off ladders and the roof
- Photograph the stain each time it appears
- Let us know about any past repairs to the roof
We email the report to you. It sets out where we believe the water is getting in, how it is travelling and what needs attention. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24 to 48 hours for Standard and the same day for Premium.
Have flashings and flat roofs looked at every few years. They’re where most leaks start, and wear is easier to deal with before water gets in.
What we cannot see
No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before booking. Keep these in mind:
- Faults hidden behind ceilings or boarding
- A structural engineer’s report
- Carrying out the fix
If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer before booking. The full list of what we check.
