Roof leak investigations for homes and businesses in Trash Green
We investigate roof leaks in Trash Green and across London and the South East. We visit seven days a week. The investigation covers inside and out, from the stain to the likely entry points. You get a written report with photos and recommendations. If water is coming in now, catch it in a bucket and keep it away from lights and sockets, then phone 07833 053749 or send us an email to arrange a visit. We survey slate and tile slopes, lead flashings and chimney stacks, and common reasons people get in touch are drips in the loft during heavy rain and damp underlay across a wide area.
For a small place like Trash Green, the inspection is the same as anywhere: the journey and access are just planned beforehand. Let us know where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, plus any earlier repairs. Photographs of the stain and of the roof from outside are helpful too.
Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Trash Green: your questions answered
Will you come out to Trash Green?
Yes, Trash Green is covered. We work right across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Is Trash Green in the area you cover?
Yes, Trash Green is within the area we cover. We work right across London and South East England. You can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and some details, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.
Will you photograph what you find?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where applicable and safe. We are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where applicable.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. We don’t sample or test for asbestos. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it’s disturbed.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
Surveys run on any day of the week. To find a day that suits you, call 07833 053749 or email us.
Why is the stain in a different place from the leak?
Water follows the easiest path, not the shortest. On a pitched roof it often runs down a rafter before it shows. Tracing that path is the heart of a leak investigation.
Wind, rain and roofs in Trash Green
In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Where water gets in depends a good deal on what the roof is made of and how it is detailed. Historic houses such as Mapledurham House, about 4.7 miles north, show how far back building in the area around Trash Green goes. If yours is one of the older homes, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
For landlords with property near Theale station, a clear finding on where water gets in helps you brief a roofer straight away. If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of St Mary the Virgin, old mortar, worn lead and slipped slates are the usual suspects when water gets in.

Tips that help
Getting the most from a roof leak investigation starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Tips:
- Do not touch fittings that water is reaching
- Put a bucket under the drip and move valuables
- Keep a photo record of the damp patch
- Mention earlier attempts to fix the leak
We email the report to you, with photos of what we found. It sets out where we believe the water is getting in, how it is travelling and what needs attention. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24 to 48 hours for Standard and the same day for Premium.
Look at the roof from ground level after strong winds. Slipped slates, lifted ridge tiles and debris on the ground are signs to act on. Small faults dealt with quickly rarely become leaks.
What happens on the day
Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes roughly 1–2 hours for a house, and more on a big or complicated roof. You are welcome to ask questions while we’re there. Cottages and farmhouses around Trash Green often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen.
- You get in touch with details of the leak and any photos.
- Inside, we check the damp area and the loft space above it.
- Outside, we check every likely route in.
- Moisture readings and thermal imaging are used where they help.
- We email a report with photographs, the likely entry point and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch

Should I look at the roof myself first?
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
Different roofs, different checks
Lead flashings
Wherever a roof meets a wall or stack, a flashing keeps rain out. Lifted, split or slipped lead is a common cause.
Slate and tile slopes
Ridge and hip tiles can loosen as their mortar cracks. Rain can then run in at the ridge.
Common roof problems in Trash Green
A roof valley collects the rain from two slopes. Split linings, slipped valley tiles or debris can push water under the slates or tiles. The stain may appear well away from the valley itself.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Damp ceilings under a flat roof
- Damp on a chimney breast
- Water marks that spread in wet weather
- Staining where a gutter or parapet meets the wall
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Burghfield St Mary's C.E. Primary School, on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain.
Questions to ask before booking
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- What they won’t be able to tell you
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
