Roof survey in East End: what you get
Our roof survey gives you a clear picture of your roof’s condition. Slates or tiles, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are all checked, and the loft space where there’s safe access. You get a written report with photos and recommendations. Where it’s relevant, the recommendations are prioritised by urgency. We survey lead flashings, clay and concrete tiles and flat roofs, and people most often book us about gutters that overflow in heavy rain and flashings that have come away from the wall.
Some older homes in villages like East End are listed or in a conservation area. If yours is, re-roofing in different materials may need consent, so the council is the place to check. Knowing the roof’s condition helps you plan ahead with that in mind. Older materials like clay tiles, slate and stone are often matched when work is done.
Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

For landlords and managing agents
Letting agents frequently book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. Access is agreed with the tenant ahead of time.
We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.
Roof surveys around East End
East End is within about 2 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Older buildings in Essex frequently have clay tiles and weatherboarding, and lots of post-war and modern estates besides. Knowing the covering helps explain which parts of a roof are likely to need work first.
Take a building like Brooklands Primary School: long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle. With Castle House about 3.1 miles south-west, the area around East End has a long history. If you own one of the older houses, the roof may have been repaired many times, and the survey records how each part is holding up. The streets around a church such as Church of St Michael and All Angels are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, old fixings, lead flashings and tall chimneys are typical of older roofs.

East End questions
Will you come out to East End?
Yes. East End is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Does being near the coast affect roofs in East End?
It can do. Within about 2 miles of the sea, as East End is, metal fixings wear faster and gales find any loose ridge or slate.
Do you use drones?
Where it’s applicable and safe, yes. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where applicable.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just tell us the days that suit you.
How many surveys have you done?
Over 5,000 surveys so far, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, with 98% customer satisfaction.
Do you carry out asbestos surveys?
No. Asbestos testing is not part of our service. Where materials might contain it, we say so in the report and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.
How quickly will I get the report?
Premium reports arrive the same day, Standard within 24 to 48 hours and Basic within 48 hours. Photos are included.
Checking the roof from the ground
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Prices for roof surveys in East End
We confirm the price for the job before you book. This is what makes a difference:

Helping us price your survey
What helps most when you contact us:
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Your timetable, like an exchange date
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To find a date that works for you, phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address and the days you’d prefer.
How it works
Where it’s relevant and can be reached safely, the roof space is checked as well as the outside. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey typically takes between one and two hours for most houses, and longer for a large or complex roof. Rural addresses near East End can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- You get in touch with the address and anything you’ve noticed.
- We agree a date, on a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- The roof is inspected from the ground, windows, the loft and the roof itself where it’s safe.
- We check the coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters, and photograph what we find.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller

Advice
Why it’s worth a survey now in East End
Without a survey, you’re guessing at what the roof needs. That can lead to the wrong work being done, or miss the fault that matters. We tell you what’s really needed. Outbuildings and barns around East End are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. A quick look before winter can save a lot.
To find out what your survey will cost, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and tell us about the roof. We’ll confirm the figure before booking.

What a roof survey doesn’t cover
We only report everything that’s safely in view on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:
- Asbestos testing of any kind
- A promise that the roof won’t leak in future
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.
