Surveys for landlords and agents in Eversley

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.

A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work with less disruption.

Storm damage roof report in Eversley

If your roof has been damaged, stay safe first. Photograph the damage from the ground or a window, and never climb up. Emergency temporary protection, such as covering an opening, is a job for a roofer. We then record the damage in a report you can pass to your insurer. Hold on to receipts for anything you pay for. Typical surveys look at damaged gutters and fascias and damaged ridges and hips, on chimney stacks, slate and tile slopes and ridges and hips.

For a small place like Eversley, the inspection is the same as anywhere: we simply plan the journey and access ahead. Tell us where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, along with any repairs done before. Photos of the stain and of the roof from outside are helpful too.

The report is written in plain words, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Photos show what each point refers to.

How we price storm damage roof reports

When we price a survey, we consider:

  • Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
  • Height and safe access
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey

Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, including VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you want to find out.

Getting in touch

Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:

  • When you need the report by
  • Where the property is, with the postcode
  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage

To arrange a survey, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. You’ll know the price before anything is booked.

Storm damage roof reports in Eversley: local notes

Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Where water gets in depends a good deal on what the roof is made of and how it’s detailed. The wider area around Eversley has a long history of building, with Stratfield Saye House about 4.7 miles west. If your house is among the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.

If you look after a building such as Charles Kingsley's Church of England Primary School, on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain. The streets around a church such as Church of St Mary are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, old mortar, worn lead and slipped slates are the usual suspects when water gets in.

Eversley is about 3 miles north-west of Yateley, in Wokingham. We provide storm damage roof reports for homes and businesses in Eversley and nearby. Eversley is one of the places in Wokingham where we work for storm damage roof reports. We also survey roofs in Reading.

Common roof problems in Eversley

Flat roofs can be damaged too. Wind can lift edges and tear coverings, and blocked outlets can leave water ponding after heavy rain. We record what we find on flat and pitched roofs alike.

These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:

  • Torn or lifted flat roof coverings
  • Roofs hit by falling trees
  • Damaged ridges and hips
  • Loose or torn flashings

Landlords with a home close to Crowthorne station may find that a clear finding on where water gets in helps you brief a roofer straight away.

FAQs for Eversley

Is my home in Eversley listed or in a conservation area?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Do you cover smaller places like Eversley?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.

Does someone need to be in?

Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that in advance, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If it’s needed and safe to reach, yes. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. Asbestos surveys and testing aren’t part of what we do. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.

Can you survey at the weekend?

We carry out surveys seven days a week. To find a day that suits you, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Is wear and tear covered by insurance?

Wear and tear is not usually covered. Our report gives an honest view of what’s recent damage and what’s older wear. Your insurer decides the claim.

Honest limits

Every survey has limits, and it is better to know them up front. Bear these in mind:

  • Negotiating a claim settlement
  • A decision on your insurance claim
  • Damage hidden under coverings or inside the structure, without opening up

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you before booking. The full list of what we check.

How it works

Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes about 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. You’re welcome to ask questions while we are there. In a small place like Eversley, access is usually the main thing to plan. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. We note the date of the storm and the damage you’ve seen.
  2. The roof is inspected from safe positions.
  3. Each area of damage is photographed and described.
  4. The report notes whether the damage fits a storm, older wear or both.
  5. We send you the report by email for your insurer.

Advice

Different roofs, different checks

Ridge and hip tiles

Worn mortar under ridge tiles can let them lift in a storm. Our report says whether it looks freshly damaged or worn over time.

Flat roof coverings

Edge trims and laps are often where flat roof coverings start to peel back. We look at whether the damage is recent or older.
