Storm damage roof reports for homes and businesses in Mursley
Our storm damage report gives you an independent, written record of how a storm has affected your roof. It sets out what is damaged, with photos, and what we think the likely cause is. You can then give it to your insurer with your claim. The decision on any claim rests with your insurer and its policy wording. We aren’t loss adjusters and can’t say whether a claim will be paid. We are often asked to look into damaged flat roof membrane and roofs hit by falling trees, across ridges and hips, flat roofs and flashings.
Being in a small place like Mursley makes no difference to how a leak or storm damage is looked at: we simply plan the journey and access ahead. Tell us where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, along with any repairs done before. If you have photographs of the water coming in, they help as well.
The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Can I check my roof myself?
A lot can be seen from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Mursley questions
Is my home in Mursley listed or in a conservation area?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Do you cover smaller places like Mursley?
Yes, Mursley is covered. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.
Do you need to get into the loft?
If it is needed and safe to reach, yes. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where it applies let us see the rest, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
Should I go up on the roof to take photos?
Please don’t climb onto the roof. Photograph the damage from below or from a window. Note the date and time, and photograph any damage inside.
How strong does the wind have to be for a storm claim?
It varies by policy. About 55 mph is a common figure in many policies, but check your own wording.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just let us know the days that suit you.
Different roofs, different checks
Ridge and hip tiles
Ridge tiles bedded in old mortar can loosen in high winds. We note whether the mortar looks recently broken or long worn.
Chimney stacks
High winds can loosen pots, cowls and aerials on stacks. The report notes any damage to the stack.
Surveys for landlords and agents in Mursley
Landlords, agents and building managers in Mursley and across Milton Keynes can book any of our surveys. For a price for a let property or a block, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out with the most urgent first where relevant, which helps when budgeting.
Tips that help
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:
- Check how your policy defines a storm
- Keep any slates, tiles or debris that fall, if it is safe to do so
- Note the date and time you first saw the damage
- Don’t go onto the roof to take pictures
Questions about the findings are always welcome. Standard Surveys come with a follow-up consultation, and Premium Surveys with an in-person one.
Store invoices and reports for any roof work. They can help show the roof was looked after.

Leaks and storm damage in Mursley
Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Knowing the roof type helps narrow down where water may be getting in. The wider area around Mursley has a long history of building, with Bletchley Park about 4.5 miles north-east. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs.
Landlords with a home close to Bletchley station may find that a tenant living with a leak needs the cause found, not just the stain painted over. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, leaks on older roofs often start at lead flashings, valleys or around old chimney stacks.
Mursley is about 4 miles south-west of Bletchley, in Milton Keynes. Houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings in Mursley can all book storm damage roof reports. Our Milton Keynes coverage includes Mursley. You can also see our page for Milton Keynes.

How the survey works
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and if part of the roof can’t be seen, the report says so. Most visits take an hour or two for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. In a small place like Mursley, access is normally the main thing to plan. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- First you give us the date of the storm and what you’ve noticed, inside and out.
- We view the roof from wherever it can be seen safely, including the loft where there is access.
- Each area of damage is photographed and described.
- The likely cause is recorded, along with any evidence of older wear.
- You get a written report you can pass to your insurer.
Before we arrive
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- If you are buying, let the agent know when we’re coming
- Jot down any questions you want answered

Signs you need a storm damage roof report in Mursley
When you claim, your insurer may ask for evidence of the damage and its cause. An independent report gives you a clear record to send. The decision still rests with the insurer.
It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Gutters pulled loose in the wind
- Damaged pots on the stack
- Damaged ridges and hips
- Torn or lifted flat roof coverings
Take a building like Mursley Church of England School: water through a big roof can travel a long way before it drips, so the search covers more than the obvious spot.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- When you’ll get the report
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- Will the report include photos?
