Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Aspley Heath

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we will say so. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photos. Typical surveys look at wind damage high on the roof and outlets choked with leaves and silt, on tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and large and complex roofs.

Older buildings in small places like Aspley Heath may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

What we do, step by step

The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. It typically takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Rural addresses near Aspley Heath can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Aspley Heath

Is drone flying allowed in Aspley Heath?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

Is Aspley Heath within the area you cover?

Yes, Aspley Heath is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.

How experienced are you?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.

How soon will I get the report?

It depends on the package: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. Reports are sent by email.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We point out what can be seen, such as sagging or deflection, but we don’t carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. If we think you need an engineer, the report says so.

Does the weather affect the survey?

Light rain is usually fine; heavy rain and wind are different. In strong wind or a downpour, a drone cannot fly and access may not be safe, so we’d move the date with you.

What insurance do you have?

We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover

No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Keep these in mind:

  • Flights in strong wind or a downpour
  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will point you to the right survey. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the survey around it.

Why it’s worth a survey now in Aspley Heath

Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Finding them now means less to put right, whatever height the roof is. For older village homes like those around Aspley Heath, the right replacement materials are not always easy to find quickly. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We can help you choose the package that fits what you need to know.

When to book a survey in Aspley Heath

Big commercial and industrial roofs cover a lot of ground. A drone can photograph a large roof methodically, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.

People normally book a survey after spotting one of these:

  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt
  • Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
  • Flashings that have come away
  • Plant growth and moss on the roof

Anyone responsible for a site like Swallowfield Lower School will know that big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.

Before you book anyone

  • Their report turnaround times
  • Their insurance cover

Tips from our surveys

Small things make a difference. Our tips:

  • Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
  • Make sure there is room outside for the drone to take off
  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to talk through the photographs and findings. You can ask about anything that is not clear.

Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On tall buildings, use a professional with the right access equipment. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.
