Drone roof survey in Ayres End: what you get
Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We’ll tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. Typical surveys look at vegetation in valleys and gutters and cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below, across valleys and parapet gutters, tall and steep roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.
Villages like Ayres End often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. That way, it’s clear what was covered and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Common questions in Ayres End
Is drone flying allowed in Ayres End?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Do you cover smaller places like Ayres End?
Yes. Ayres End is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there as you book.
How do I book a survey in Ayres End?
Just call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day.
How quickly is the report sent?
That depends on the survey you book: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. The report is emailed to you.
What does the report include?
It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, with photos throughout. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too.
How many surveys have you done?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, and 98% of clients are satisfied.
Will you photograph what you find?
Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and they go into the written report alongside our recommendations.
Common roof problems in Ayres End
Strong winds can lift slates, tiles and ridge pieces. Damage on a high or steep roof is hard to judge from the garden. Close-up photos make it clear what has been disturbed.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Lifted or split lead flashings
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near The Maltings, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.
Choosing a roof surveyor

Tips that help
Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Check the loft can be reached
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
- Book early if you are near an airport
The Premium Survey report comes the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible, alongside the other checks in the package.
Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Many leaks start with a blocked outlet.
Drone roof surveys around Ayres End
The wider area around Ayres End has a long history of building, with Childwickbury Manor about 1.6 miles south-west. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
If you live in an older home near Parish Church of Saint John the Baptist, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Take a building like The Grove Infant and Nursery School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

What we do, step by step
A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, inspect the roof from every safe vantage point, take photographs as we go and record our findings for the written report. It usually takes between one and two hours for most houses, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Older rural homes like those around Ayres End can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

Different roofs, different checks
Valleys and parapet gutters
When a parapet outlet blocks, water can come inside. We check outlets and photograph any build-up.
Large commercial roofs
Large commercial roofs cover a lot of ground. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically, so nothing is skipped.
