About our drone roof survey in Burghfield

A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it can’t see under the coverings or into the loft. We check the loft from inside where it’s safe, because the underside tells its own story. Together, the two give a fuller picture. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. If there’s no safe loft access, the report says so. If you’ve noticed loose ridge and hip tiles and storm damage on steep or tall roofs, we can find out what’s behind it.

Somewhere as small as Burghfield, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked ahead of the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

How it works

After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a written report with photographs, emailed to you. As for time on site, it normally takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Cottages and farmhouses around Burghfield frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

What we are asked to look at in Burghfield

From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. Rear slopes, valleys and the tops of chimneys are hidden. Problems in those places frequently go unseen until they leak.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Plant growth and moss on the roof
  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
  • Chimney tops in poor condition

If you look after a building such as Burghfield St Mary's C.E. Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Before you book any roof surveyor

  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection
  • Whether VAT is in the quoted price
  • If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID

What a good roof survey covers

What this survey cannot tell you

In fairness, there are limits to any roof survey:

  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you before booking. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Roofs we survey in Burghfield

  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks

Leave it or get it looked at?

Leaving a high roof unchecked means relying on what you can see from below. Close-up photos show what’s really there, slope by slope. Seeing the problem makes it easier to decide what to do. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Burghfield, driving rain gets into any weakness, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We can help you choose the package that fits what you need to know.
