Drone roof surveys for Dallington homes and businesses

About our drone roof survey in Dallington

From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it cannot see inside. Where there’s safe access, we look in the roof space too, because the underside tells its own story. Inside and out together tell you far more. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. Where the loft cannot be reached safely, we note it. We survey chimney stacks, large and complex roofs and flat roofs on upper floors, and common reasons people get in touch are hidden gutters full of leaves and moss and weeds taking hold up top.

Villages like Dallington often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, each with a short note and a photograph. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

Common questions in Dallington

Do you cover smaller places like Dallington?

We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.

Is drone flying allowed in Dallington?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

Will I get photos?

Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and the report uses them to show each finding.

How many surveys have you done?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.

Are you insured?

Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and details are available on request.

How fast do I get the report?

Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. If you have a deadline, such as an exchange date, tell us when you book.

How long does the survey take?

It normally takes roughly 1–2 hours for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. We will confirm the timing when you book.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord, and the report can go to both. Access is agreed with the tenant ahead of time.

Landlords, agents and building managers in Dallington and across East Sussex can book any of our surveys. For a price for a let property or a block, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

How we price drone roof surveys

Prices vary from roof to roof, and it comes down to:

  • The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
  • How big the roof is
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • Whether it is a home or a commercial building

What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how safely it can be seen. Our price is from £400, including VAT.

Booking your survey

We’ll normally ask about:

  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • When you need the report by
  • What made you get in touch

Booking is simple: just call 07833 053749 or email us and give us some details about the property and we’ll explain which survey suits. We confirm the price before anything is booked.

Drones, thermal imaging and Dallington roofs

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.

Bateman's, about 3.1 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Dallington. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition. Take a building like Dallington Church of England Primary School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Dallington is about 7 miles north-east of Hailsham, in East Sussex. Dallington gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a careful inspection, photographs and a written report. We cover towns and villages across East Sussex, large and small. You can also see our page for Brighton.

All of TN21 is within our area for drone roof surveys, from the main roads to the quietest streets. Nearby, we also carry out drone roof surveys in Wood's Corner (1 mile east), Rushlake Green (2 miles west), Punnett's Town (2 miles north-west), Brownbread Street (3 miles south-east) and Burwash Common (3 miles north). Within a short drive, we also cover Eastbourne (12 miles south), Hastings (10 miles south-east), Bexhill-on-Sea (8 miles south-east), Hailsham (7 miles south-west), Crowborough (11 miles north-west) and St Leonards (11 miles south-east).

A little further out are Old Castle (less than half a mile west) and Hellingly Hospital (5.6 miles south-west).

When to book a survey in Dallington

Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and some sheet roofs are fragile. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

A survey can pick up problems such as:

  • Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
  • Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Loose ridge and hip tiles

Take an older house close to The Parish Church of St Giles: thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Questions to ask before booking

  • How they’ll see the roof: from the ground, the loft, the roof or by drone
  • Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
  • Is VAT included in the price?

What a good roof survey covers

Leave it or get it looked at?

Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. Our report shows the condition of each area, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. You can tackle the urgent items first. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Dallington, driving rain gets into any weakness, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.

Why us?

  • Surveys on any day of the week
  • Drones and thermal imaging where it applies
  • 98% of customers satisfied
  • Package prices that include VAT

How the survey changes by roof type

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Felt often lasts around 15 to 20 years, EPDM rubber around 30 to 50 and GRP up to about 30. We record the signs of age we can see.

Valleys and parapet gutters

Blocked outlets in hidden gutters cause many leaks. Outlets and any debris around them are photographed.

The survey, step by step

After the inspection, everything we found is written up in a report with photographs, sent to you by email. As for time on site, most surveys take between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a hamlet or village like Dallington, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Check the loft hatch can be reached
  • For flats, check roof access has been agreed
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
