Drone roof survey in Gallows Green, Essex

Do you need a drone roof survey in Gallows Green?
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. A drone can photograph a large roof methodically, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Flashings that have come away
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Chimney tops in poor condition
If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of St Margaret and St Catherine, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.
Choosing a roof surveyor

Drone roof survey in Gallows Green: what you get
We fly a sub-250g drone, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. Safety comes first on every visit. If you’ve noticed hidden gutters full of leaves and blistered or cracked flat roof coverings, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on fragile roofs, large and complex roofs and valleys and parapet gutters alike.
In a small place like Gallows Green, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
We write the report in plain English, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Each point is backed by a photo where possible, and recommendations are put in order of urgency where relevant.

What we do, step by step
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we’ll take it from there. The survey itself takes roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Around Gallows Green, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so it helps to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- We also look inside the loft space where it is safe.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Make sure pets are kept safely away

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed beforehand. We survey on any day of the week, which can make access easier.
Drone roof surveys around Gallows Green
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. An older home may be listed, or stand in a conservation area. To find out, check Historic England’s list and ask the council about conservation areas. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there.
Take a building like Holy Trinity CofE Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
- Flights in high wind or heavy rain
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)

Why get it checked now?
With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. You can show exactly where the problem is. Around Gallows Green, older homes often have old roof timbers, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it is left.
Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before you book.

Questions from Gallows Green
Is drone flying allowed in Gallows Green?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
How do I find out if my home in Gallows Green is listed?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

How the survey changes by roof type
Steep slate and tile slopes
Walking on fragile coverings can break them. A drone avoids that, so the survey does not add damage.
Large commercial roofs
Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We don’t test for it, but we flag it and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.
