Drone roof surveys in Halland

Drone roof survey in Halland

We carry out drone roof surveys in Halland and across London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address. We survey chimney stacks, large and complex roofs and tall and steep roofs, and people most often book us about ridge pieces that have lifted and slates or tiles shifted by high winds.

Villages like Halland often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

We keep jargon out of it: if work is needed, the report says so clearly, along with how urgent it is.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Halland?

Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Older slates and tiles break easily, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. A drone lets us see them closely without touching them.

A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:

  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt
  • Flashings that have come away
  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
  • Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof

With Glyndebourne about 4.8 miles south-west, the area around Halland has a long history. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition.

Questions to ask before you book

  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • What the survey will not cover
  • Which viewpoints they use to see the roof

What a good roof survey covers

Honest limits

Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:

  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you before booking. What our survey covers.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Large and complex roofs

The survey, step by step

It is useful to start with what’s prompted the survey: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. That way we can focus on what matters to you. The visit typically takes about one to two hours on an ordinary house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. Around Halland, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. We only go where it’s safe.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Jot down any questions you want answered
  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
  • Leave a clear route to the loft

Drone roof surveys in Halland: local notes

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Many older homes in Sussex have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls. A few old Sussex buildings still carry heavy Horsham stone slabs, and the county’s older buildings include oast houses and Wealden hall houses. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.

If you look after a building such as East Hoathly CofE Primary School, big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.

Common questions in Halland

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Halland?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Will you come out to Halland?

Yes, Halland is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. We do not sample or test for asbestos. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it’s disturbed.

What will the report tell me?

It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, finishing with recommendations. Points are put with the most urgent first where relevant.

Does this replace a RICS home survey?

No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so the freeholder or managing agent needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we’re allowed to reach.

How much is a survey?

Prices start from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for the job before booking, and it depends on the roof’s size, access and the package you choose. To get a price, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Tips from our surveys

From years of surveys, a few habits stand out as worth the effort:

  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Tell us the exact address when booking

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to talk through the photos and findings. You can ask about anything that isn’t clear.

Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Many leaks start with a blocked outlet.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Halland

Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. Recommendations are set out with the most urgent first where relevant, which helps when budgeting.

Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work around your tenants.

How the survey changes by roof type

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep roofs are risky to walk on. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen.

Chimney stacks

Our drone check of a chimney is visual, and it isn’t a flue or gas safety check. If the flue needs a specialist, we’ll tell you.
