Drone Roof Survey in Blackboys
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach for Blackboys and the rest of East Sussex. Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
It’s a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. The main limits are:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll recommend the right survey. What our survey covers.
What we look at

Drone roof survey in Blackboys
Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. A drone takes close-up photographs of those roofs from the air. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly, including slopes that can’t be seen from the street. The photos go into a written report. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. If we can’t fly, we tell you why. We survey large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are hidden gutters full of leaves and blistered or cracked flat roof coverings.
Villages like Blackboys frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

The survey, step by step
You do not need to do much on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we will take it from there. A typical survey takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Rural addresses near Blackboys can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
- Make sure the loft hatch can be reached

Advice
What a survey costs
We confirm the price for the job before you book. This is what makes a difference:
- Which survey package you book
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
To find out what your survey will cost, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and a few details. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Getting in touch
These details help when you contact us:
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- How the loft is reached, if there is one

Questions from Blackboys
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Blackboys?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.
Will you come out to Blackboys?
Yes, Blackboys is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.
Do I need to be at home?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you as you book.
What does a roof survey cost?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the price for your survey before booking, and it depends on the roof’s size, access and the package you choose. For a price, call 07833 053749 or email us.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so whoever owns or manages the building needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we’re allowed to reach.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Blackboys?
It’s easiest to call 07833 053749 or send us an email. Give us the address and a few details about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. Surveys run on any day of the week.
What insurance do you have?
We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
Why get it checked now?
A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so the survey doesn’t create new problems. Older and listed buildings around Blackboys may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.
There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That’s where a survey comes in.
Roof by roof
Ridges and hips
Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. Their condition is noted in the report.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. We photograph them closely.
Drones, thermal imaging and Blackboys roofs
Many older homes in Sussex have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls. A few old Sussex buildings still carry heavy Horsham stone slabs, and the county’s older buildings include oast houses and Wealden hall houses. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from the ground, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. There are about 500,000 buildings on England’s list of listed buildings, and around 10,000 conservation areas. If your home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission, so the council is the place to ask.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Blackboys Church of England Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. In and around Blackboys, as anywhere, a roof is easiest to deal with when its problems are found early.
