Drone roof survey in Haslemere
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If permission is not given, we inspect by other means and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. We survey chimney stacks, valleys and parapet gutters and flat roofs on upper floors, and people most frequently book us about chimney tops in poor condition and hidden gutters full of leaves.
Even in a smaller place like Haslemere, there may be airfields or restrictions nearby, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. That way, it is clear what was covered and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

How we price drone roof surveys
When we price a survey, we consider:
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- The roof’s overall size
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, including VAT.
What we need to know
A few details help us point you to the right survey and price. When you contact us, it helps to mention:
- What’s prompted the survey
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
- Where the property is, with the postcode
Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from the ground or a window; never climb up to get a better view. To get started, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Why act early in Haslemere
A drone record gives you a baseline. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. Blocked gutters on homes around Haslemere overflow and soak walls. It’s easy to sort the cause early and slow to dry a damp wall.
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Take a look at what a roof survey costs and what we found on two real jobs.
What we look for on each type of roof
Flat roofs on tall buildings
The flat roof on top of a block is rarely looked at. A drone shows ponding, splits, blisters and worn upstands.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Widespread slipping on slate usually means nail fatigue. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Drone roof surveys around Haslemere
An older home may be listed, or stand in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Haslemere, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it pays to find faults before guests do. The streets around a church such as Church of St Christopher are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. If you look after a building such as Shottermill Infant School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Haslemere
Will you come out to Haslemere?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
Are there drone restrictions around Haslemere?
Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
What does a roof survey cost?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose, and it’s agreed before booking.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. Our survey is not a structural engineer’s report. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we will recommend one.
Do I need to be at home?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you as you book.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only when it’s safe. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. We use safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
When does the report arrive?
That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. Reports are sent by email.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Tips that help
Small things make a difference. Our tips:
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Check the loft can be reached
Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.
Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up, and it’s something only an inside check will show. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.
What we do, step by step
Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. If you have questions on the day, just ask. A visit to Haslemere is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed beforehand. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. Let us know about any garages, outbuildings or extensions you want included.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
