Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Jersey Farm
We carry out drone roof surveys in Jersey Farm and across London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on any day of the week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photos and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or email us with the address. We survey chimney stacks, flat roofs on upper floors and valleys and parapet gutters, and people most often book us about gaps where slates or tiles have gone and lead work pulling away at abutments.
Around Jersey Farm, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Findings are checked with moisture readings where needed. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Useful tips for Jersey Farm property owners
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Check the loft can be reached
- Check there is room outside for the drone to take off
The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. They’ll see exactly where each defect is, so their quotes cover the same ground.
Keep the loft space ventilated. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation, and it is something only an inside check will show. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.
Roof by roof
Chimney stacks
Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. Each defect is photographed for the report.
Large commercial roofs
Large commercial roofs cover a lot of ground. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically.
Why it’s worth a survey now in Jersey Farm
Leaving a high roof unchecked means relying on what you can see from below. Close-up photos show what’s really there. Seeing the problem makes it easier to decide what to do. In an older home around Jersey Farm, water from a roof defect can get into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than the original defect.
Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Honest limits
Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll suggest the right survey. What a survey covers and does not.
Roof types and parts we check
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Tall and steep roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Fragile roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
Jersey Farm: your questions answered
Will you come out to Jersey Farm?
Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Jersey Farm?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
Will I get photos?
Yes. Photographs are taken throughout the survey, and the report uses them to show each finding alongside our recommendations.
What if it rains on the day?
A survey can usually go ahead in light rain, and it can even help show where water is getting in. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so we’ll agree a new date if the weather is not suitable.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. We look at the roof, not the whole building, so it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
What insurance do you have?
Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
How do I book a survey in Jersey Farm?
Just call 07833 053749 or email us with the address. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date.
Flying and imaging in Jersey Farm
With Childwickbury Manor about 2.3 miles west, Jersey Farm sits in an area with a long building history. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Skyswood Primary & Nursery School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. For an older house near a landmark such as Saint Mary's, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near The Maltings, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.

Advice
What you can safely check yourself
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
