Little Baddow Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach around Little Baddow, with findings in writing and pictures to back them up. Weekday and weekend visits available.
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Standing water on a flat roof
What we look for on each type of roof
Valleys and parapet gutters
Some older terraces have a butterfly roof with a valley in the middle. It is almost impossible to see from the ground, but it’s plain to see from the air.
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
About our drone roof survey in Little Baddow
The weather decides whether a drone can fly. We do not fly in strong wind or heavy rain, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the weather turns, we’ll agree another day. We check the forecast before the visit and again on site. Light wind and dry weather give the clearest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. We survey fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and tall and steep roofs, and people most frequently book us about blocked valleys and parapet gutters and cracked mortar along the ridge.
In a village or hamlet like Little Baddow, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent, whichever applies.

How it works
Every roof is different; as a rough guide, the survey takes an hour or two for most houses, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. You’re welcome to ask questions while we’re there. For a village or hamlet like Little Baddow, the journey is planned ahead of time: let us know about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it is safe.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
- We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Getting ready for the survey
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

What a drone roof survey looks like in Little Baddow

Danbury Place, about 1.7 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Little Baddow. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of St Mary the Virgin, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.

- Commercial roofs and larger buildings

FAQs for Little Baddow
Will you come out to Little Baddow?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
How do I find out if my home in Little Baddow is listed?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Little Baddow?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose, confirmed before anything is booked.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only where it’s safe to do so. We check everything that can safely be seen: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the roof space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
What if it’s windy or raining on the day?
Bad weather means no flight. Wind and heavy rain are the two things that ground a small drone, so we’d move the date with you, or look from other safe viewpoints if you’d rather.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.
What will the report tell me?
A written report with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.
Checking the roof from ground level
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Do not go up yourself.
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
