Drone roof survey in Lower Titmore Green

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We’ll tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photos. We survey fragile roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and tall and steep roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are worn lead at chimneys and walls and plant growth and moss on the roof.

In a small place like Lower Titmore Green, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, along with how urgent it is.

How the survey works

Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings as a photo-illustrated written report, emailed to you. As for time on site, most surveys take an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older rural homes like those around Lower Titmore Green can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Advice

DIY checks: what’s safe

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. That comes down to:

  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • Basic, Standard or Premium

Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. You will know the exact price before booking.

Helping us price your survey

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
  • Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • The kind of building and roof involved
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work

To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or email us and tell us the address and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price before booking.

What we look for on each type of roof

Valleys and parapet gutters

Blocked outlets in hidden gutters cause many leaks. We check outlets and photograph any build-up.

Large commercial roofs

Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically.

Tips that help

You do not need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:

  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Tell us the exact address when booking
  • Check there’s room outside for the drone to take off
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather

Keep the photos with your property records. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys.

Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, so small faults are dealt with early.

Leave it or get it looked at?

It is hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. You get photographs of every part we can see. That helps you put the work in order. Older and listed buildings around Lower Titmore Green may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.

One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, inc. VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

What you get with us

  • More than 20 years surveying roofs
  • An independent view of the roof

Lower Titmore Green questions

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Lower Titmore Green?

Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

How do I find out if my home in Lower Titmore Green is listed?

We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.

How long have you been surveying roofs?

Over 5,000 surveys so far, over more than 20 years, and 98% of customers are satisfied.

Are you insured?

Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

What does a roof survey cost?

Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all with VAT included.

Do you work in Lower Titmore Green?

Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, Lower Titmore Green included.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Asbestos surveys and testing aren’t part of what we do. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.

For site and facilities teams at buildings like Wymondley Junior Mixed and Infant School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. The streets around a church such as Church of St Mary the Virgin are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. Knebworth House lies about 3.5 miles south, so building around Lower Titmore Green goes back a long way. A drone or thermal survey does not involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.
