Drone roof surveys for Matching Green homes and businesses

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Matching Green

Drone roof surveys are available in Matching Green and throughout London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly seven days a week. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. We survey fragile roofs, tall and steep roofs and chimney stacks, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots and slates or tiles shifted by high winds.

Somewhere as small as Matching Green, older roofs are frequently steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

What we are asked to look at in Matching Green

Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. A drone gets close-up views from a safe position on the ground.

Here are some of the things we see frequently:

  • Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
  • Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
  • Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt

If you live in an older home near Parish Church of St Mary, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What a roof survey includes

Why act early in Matching Green

Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. Looking from above picks up the early signs. Outbuildings and barns around Matching Green are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. It’s worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.

Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before you book.

Matching Green questions

Is my home in Matching Green listed or in a conservation area?

Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.

Will you come out to Matching Green?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

How long does a drone roof survey take?

It typically takes about 1–2 hours at most homes; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. Time for the pre-flight checks is included.

Is your drone operator registered?

Yes. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. Our drone weighs under 250g and keep it in sight at all times.

Are you structural engineers?

No. We note visible signs such as sagging or deflection, but we do not carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. If we think you need an engineer, the report says so.

Does the weather affect a drone survey?

Safety comes first, so the weather decides. Strong wind and heavy rain both rule out flying. We’ll talk through the options if the day turns bad.

What about my neighbours’ privacy?

Privacy is taken seriously on every flight. We photograph your roof, not your neighbours’ property. Letting neighbours know ahead of time helps.

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. We record what we find with photos.

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Flat roof coverings wear out at different rates. Photos show how the covering is wearing.

What we do, step by step

A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and record our findings for the written report. It normally takes roughly 1–2 hours at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Around Matching Green, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so it is useful to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it’s safe.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
  • Note where any stains or damp appear
  • Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller

Booking a survey

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, and you can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email to find out.

Advice

Before and after the survey

A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Some tips:

  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • A word with neighbours beforehand helps
  • Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
  • Book early if you are near an airport

The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. They’ll see exactly where each defect is, so their quotes cover the same ground.

Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, especially in autumn. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Many leaks start with a blocked outlet.

Airspace, weather and Matching Green roofs

Clay tiles and timber weatherboarding mark out many of the older buildings in Essex, and lots of post-war and modern estates besides. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail. About 4.1 miles north lies Barrington Hall, a reminder of how long the area around Matching Green has been built on. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
