Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Billericay

Our price is from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we’ll say so. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. We are often asked to look into plant growth and moss on the roof and coverings that have slipped high up on the roof, across chimney stacks, large and complex roofs and tall and steep roofs.

In older houses around Billericay, loft insulation can be thin, patchy or missing in places. A thermal camera shows those cold and warm patches, and some of them can point to moisture. What it shows is surface temperature, not water itself, so findings are checked with moisture readings, while drone photos show the outside of the same roof. Results depend on the conditions, which is why the date is chosen with care.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Drone roof surveys in Billericay: local notes

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

Ingatestone Hall, about 2.7 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Billericay. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager doesn’t touch the roof itself. Take a building like Sunnymede Junior School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary Magdalene, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

Billericay is about 4 miles north of Basildon, in Essex. Surveys in Billericay work the same way as everywhere we cover: a careful look at whatever is safely visible, photographs and a clear written report. We cover towns and villages across Essex. There is also a page for Chelmsford.

What happens on the day

Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings as a photo-illustrated written report. As for time on site, it typically takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. A survey in Billericay needs access inside and out, including the loft hatch and any rooms with damp. Mention gates, side passages and anything at the back. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • For flats, check roof access has been agreed
  • Show us where any leaks or stains appear
  • Make sure we can get to the back of the property

Billericay: your questions answered

Do you cover Billericay?

Yes, Billericay is one of the places we work. The survey and report are the same in Billericay as anywhere else.

Is my home in Billericay listed or in a conservation area?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Are you structural engineers?

No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To arrange a date, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Are there drone restrictions in central London?

Parts of central London are restricted, including areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs, and flights there need NATS permission. We check before every flight and seek permission where needed.

Do you test for asbestos?

No. Asbestos surveys and testing are not part of what we do. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes, once access has been agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so we need permission from the building owner or managing agent. We can only inspect what we are given access to.

Leave it or get it looked at?

Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. You can show exactly where the problem is. Around Billericay, gutters that overflow soak the wall below, and damp follows inside. A slipped tile or worn flashing does the same higher up. Neither gets better on its own.

What we cannot see

Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:

  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you before you book. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs

What we look for on each type of roof

Steep slate and tile slopes

On slate roofs, slipped slates frequently point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.

Ridges and hips

Wind lifts loose ridge and hip tiles. Spotting them early stops them falling.

Surveys for landlords and agents in Billericay

Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, with the report sent to whoever needs it. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, from shops and offices to industrial units. Larger roofs take longer, so they’re priced to suit.
