Drone roof survey in Oak Corner: what you get

Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. A drone takes close-up photos of those roofs from the air. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail. Everything we find goes into a report with photos. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. Where a flight isn’t possible, we explain why. Typical surveys look at moss building up on slopes and in gutters and ridge pieces that have lifted, on tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and large and complex roofs.

Some older homes in villages like Oak Corner are listed or in a conservation area. A look by drone or thermal camera does not touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

Findings are set out part by part, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, each with a short note and a photograph. It records what’s sound as well as what isn’t.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Oak Corner

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord. Access is agreed with the tenant in advance.

What a drone roof survey does not cover

We only report what can safely be seen on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)

If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll suggest the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

Questions from Oak Corner

Will you come out to Oak Corner?

Yes, Oak Corner is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.

How do I find out if my home in Oak Corner is listed?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

What does a roof survey cost?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT.

How long will you be at the property?

The visit normally takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. We’ll confirm what to expect when we arrange the visit.

How soon will I get the report?

It depends on the package: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. Reports are sent by email.

Will the drone film my neighbours?

The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring gardens or windows. We inspect only the roof you’ve asked about. A word with next door beforehand is a good idea.

What will the report tell me?

A photo-illustrated written report, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, in order of urgency where relevant. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection and a structural check, and the Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

Different roofs, different checks

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. We photograph them closely.

Chimney stacks

From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. Each defect is photographed for the report.

How the survey works

Safety comes first on every visit. We inspect what can safely be seen, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. The survey normally takes about one to two hours at most homes, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. For a village or hamlet like Oak Corner, the journey is planned beforehand: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it’s safe.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Check we can get to the back of the property
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared

Advice

Before and after the survey

Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:

  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
  • Tell us the exact address when you book
  • Check the loft can be reached

The Premium Survey report comes the same day. Drone photos are included where we could fly, alongside the other checks in the package.

Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up, and it’s something only an inside check will show. Make sure insulation does not block the airflow.

Drone roof surveys around Oak Corner

Oak Corner lies within about 2 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. With Thorpe Hall about 2.4 miles south, Oak Corner sits in an area with a long building history. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.

Common roof problems in Oak Corner

Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Three-storey houses, blocks of flats and tall commercial buildings are common examples. We fly from the ground and bring the camera close to the roof.

Look out for signs like these:

  • Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
  • Lifted or split lead flashings
  • Hidden gutters full of leaves
  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs

If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Parish Church of St Leonard, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
