Drone roof survey in Shipton Bellinger, Hampshire
Need a drone roof survey in Shipton Bellinger? We can help, with a written report you can act on. Weekday and weekend visits available.
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
How the survey works
The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. All told, expect roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. In a hamlet or village like Shipton Bellinger, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
How to prepare
- Tell us where we can park nearby
- Check we can get to the back of the property
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared

If you are buying, it is useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. Otherwise, simply call 07833 053749 or use the contact form whenever suits you.
Advice
How a drone roof survey works in Shipton Bellinger
Drone roof surveys are available in Shipton Bellinger and throughout London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on any day of the week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photos and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email. If you are worried about slates or tiles shifted by high winds and ridge pieces that have lifted, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on large and complex roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and chimney stacks alike.
In a small place like Shipton Bellinger, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters, with a note and a photo for each point. You will see the good as well as the bad.

Tips from our surveys
Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Move stored items away from the hatch
- Book early if you’re near an airport
There is a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.
Every so often, look in the loft space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.
Honest limits
Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will point you to the right survey. What our survey covers.
What we check
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs

Shipton Bellinger questions
Is drone flying allowed in Shipton Bellinger?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Shipton Bellinger?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. Photographs are taken throughout the survey, and the report uses them to show each finding.
What’s in the survey report?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, finishing with recommendations. The most urgent items are made clear.
Are you structural engineers?
No. Our survey isn’t a structural engineer’s report. We will recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. Access is agreed with you when you book.
Does the weather affect the survey?
A survey can normally go ahead in light rain. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so we will agree a new date if the weather isn’t suitable.
How the survey changes by roof type
Steep slate and tile slopes
Walking on fragile coverings can break them. The drone sees them without touching them.
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. We’ll say if a specialist is needed.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, with the report sent to whoever needs it. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
If you own several properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To discuss a number of properties, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Can I check my roof myself?
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
What a drone roof survey looks like in Shipton Bellinger
We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. An older home may be listed, or stand in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. In either case, a change of roofing material may need consent.
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Shipton Bellinger Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
