Drone roof survey in East Anton: what you get

Drone roof surveys are available in East Anton and throughout London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. If you’re worried about blocked valleys and parapet gutters and lifted or split lead flashings, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on flat roofs on upper floors, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs alike.

Around East Anton, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.

The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

East Anton questions

Are there drone restrictions around East Anton?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

Will you come out to East Anton?

Yes. East Anton is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.

Are you structural engineers?

No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but we don’t provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. The report will say if you need an engineer.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

Are you insured?

We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.

What do I do with the report?

The report comes by email, and what you do next is up to you: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.

Does this replace a RICS home survey?

No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.

Drone roof surveys in East Anton: local notes

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.

If you run a hotel or guest house in or near East Anton, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it’s worth knowing the roof’s condition. The streets around a church such as St Paul Church Centre are often among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

How we price drone roof surveys

To price your survey, we look at:

  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • Which survey package you book
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office

What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Prices start from £400, including VAT.

Getting in touch

There’s no need for technical words. Just let us know:

  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • Your timetable, like an exchange date
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • What’s prompted the survey

If you’re buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email when you’re ready.

How the survey works

We work from the outside in: outside views come first, then the loft space if there is safe access. In total, it takes about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. For a survey in East Anton, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. Weekday and weekend visits are both possible. Let us know about any garages, outbuildings or extensions you want included.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent

Advice

Common roof problems in East Anton

Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. A drone lets us see them closely without touching them.

Look out for signs like these:

  • Moss and weeds taking hold up top
  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
  • Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone

Anyone responsible for a site like Endeavour Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What the report includes, and whether it has photos
  • Their track record with similar roofs
  • Whether the inside of the roof is included
  • Whether VAT is added on top

What’s in a roof survey

What we can’t see

Before you book, it is worth knowing what a survey will not do:

  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will suggest the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and does not.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

Can I check my roof myself?

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.
