Weeke Drone Roof Survey
Drone roof surveys in Weeke from an independent, experienced roof surveyor. More than 20 years and over 5,000 surveys.
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Lifted or split lead flashings
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
Should I look at the roof myself first?
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That is where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
About our drone roof survey in Weeke
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Flight restriction zones around airports like Heathrow, Gatwick and London City need permission from the airport or air traffic control. Parts of central London have restricted areas too, where NATS permission is needed. If we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and explain why. Prison sites also have drone restriction zones. We survey fragile roofs, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are moss and weeds taking hold up top and ridge pieces that have lifted.
In smaller places like Weeke, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from the ground. The parts you can’t see, such as rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. The forecast decides the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Even so, a close-up image often shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from the ground misses.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photographs, emailed to you. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

How the survey changes by roof type
Ridges and hips
Loose ridge pieces can be lifted in a storm. Finding them early keeps them from coming down.
Chimney stacks
The drone shows the outside of the stack, and it is not a flue or gas safety check. We’ll say if a specialist is needed.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.
Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client.

Questions from Weeke
Are there drone restrictions around Weeke?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
How do I find out if my home in Weeke is listed?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Do I need to be at home?
That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access, while outside access can be discussed when booking.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
Surveys run on any day of the week. To arrange a date, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
What happens next?
The report arrives by email, with photographs and clear recommendations. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.
Do you take photos of the roof?
Yes. The report includes photographs of what we found.
How long is the visit?
That depends on the size and shape of the roof, but most surveys take about 1–2 hours at most homes, and more on a big or complicated roof. The report is sent afterwards by email.
What a drone roof survey looks like in Weeke
Weeke has a number of hotels within about a mile and a half, and like offices and blocks, hotels often sit under flat roofs. If you look after one, a large roof can be surveyed without guests having anyone working above them. If your home is older, it’s worth knowing whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before planning roof work. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, and councils can also use Article 4 directions to control changes in conservation areas.
If you look after a building such as Weeke Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. For hotels and guest houses around Weeke, a roof problem found early is far less disruptive than one found by a guest. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Matthew, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.
Weeke is about 1 mile north-west of Winchester, in Hampshire. Whether the building in Weeke is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, the roof can be surveyed. Across Hampshire, we cover Weeke. There is also a page for Southampton.
We cover every part of SO22 and SO23 for drone roof surveys and the streets around it. We offer drone roof surveys to properties on Elm Road, Dean Lane and Links Road and the roads around them. Neighbouring places we cover for drone roof surveys include Harestock (1 mile north), Hyde (1 mile east), Abbotts Barton (1 mile east), Winchester (1 mile south-east) and Littleton (1 mile north-west). We also work in nearby towns such as Eastleigh (7 miles south), Andover (12 miles north-west), Totton (13 miles south-west), Chandler's Ford (6 miles south), Hedge End (11 miles south) and Romsey (8 miles south-west).
Around Weeke
Typical jobs here are in homes near Peter Symonds College, St. Cross Park and The Railway Inn, among other places. The nearest railway station is Winchester station, roughly 0.6 miles south-east. Nearby you will also find Winchester Castle (0.9 miles south-east) and Royal Green Jackets (Rifles) Museum (0.8 miles south-east). Not far away are Twyford Down and Winnall Moors.
Honest limits
This is not a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission

Practical tips
There’s plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Tell us about any leaks or concerns
There’s a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.
Keep the roof space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.
What we do, step by step
We check the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the loft space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. All in, the survey typically takes about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a smaller place like Weeke, as anywhere, the forecast plays a part: drone flights and thermal imaging need the right conditions, while a look from ground level and the loft can go ahead in most weather.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
- We also look inside the roof space where it’s safe.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
