Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Stanmore

Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly, including slopes that cannot be seen from the street. The photos go into a written report. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. If we can’t fly, we tell you why. We’re often asked to look into gaps where slates or tiles have gone and hidden gutters full of leaves, across chimney stacks, tall and steep roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.

Even in a smaller place like Stanmore, there may be airfields or restrictions nearby, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.

Findings are set out part by part, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets. You will see the good as well as the bad.

How the survey works

A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, inspect the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. Most visits take an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. With a bit of garden around a house, as there often is around Stanmore, the roof can be viewed from several angles. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. Inside, the loft is checked where it can be reached safely.

  1. You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Advice

Checking the roof from ground level

A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when booking and it will help the survey.

What we look for on each type of roof

Ridges and hips

Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. Their condition is noted in the report.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.

What a survey costs

Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before you book. This is what makes a difference:

  • House, block, shop or office
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • Building height and the viewpoints available
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight

To find out what your survey will cost, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and let us know about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Getting in touch

A few details help us point you to the right survey and price. When you get in touch, it is useful to mention:

  • Dates you’re working to, like exchange
  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • The kind of building and roof involved
  • The address and postcode of the property

Getting a price is simple: just phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form, let us know about the property and we will recommend the right survey. We confirm the price before anything is booked.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Stanmore

Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Tell us about it when you book and we will plan the survey around it.

We survey roofs for landlords and agents as well as householders. A report with photographs gives you a clear record of the roof, which helps you plan work between tenancies.

Drone roof surveys around Stanmore

Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. In either case, a change of roofing material may need consent. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

The streets around a church such as Saint Luke are often among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Stanmore Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once. A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Stanmore means lost rooms as well as repairs.

Stanmore questions

Will you come out to Stanmore?

Yes, Stanmore is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

Is my home in Stanmore listed or in a conservation area?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Will you walk on the roof?

Only if it is safe. We inspect whatever is safely visible: from ground level, from windows, from inside the roof space, from the roof where it is safe and by drone where applicable. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.

How long have you been surveying roofs?

We have completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, with 98% customer satisfaction.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

It depends on what we need to see. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access, while outside access can be discussed when you book.

Will you photograph what you find?

Yes. Photographs are taken throughout the survey, and they go into the written report.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you as you book.

What happens if roof problems are left?

It’s hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. You get photographs of every part we can see, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. That helps you put the work in order. Homes in smaller places like Stanmore can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Wind gets under it and lifts more.

All our prices include VAT. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the price for your survey before you book.
