Drone roof survey in Fareham, Hampshire
A careful look at the roof at your property in Fareham, and put it all in a photo-illustrated written report.
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
Should I look at the roof myself first?
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That’s where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
Drone roof survey in Fareham
They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from the ground. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on, such as old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. We check the airspace for your address ahead of the visit. If a drone is not the right tool, we’ll say so. If you are worried about loose ridge and hip tiles and debris building up in hidden gutters, we can find out what’s behind it, on valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors alike.
For a town like Fareham, every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map, including zones around airports and prisons. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). We take care over neighbours’ privacy. Flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight, as the open category requires.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Drone roof surveys in Fareham: local notes
Fareham lies within about 2 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. Solent Airport is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight.
If you run a business near Fareham Shopping Centre, large commercial roofs are frequently easiest to see by drone or thermal camera. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Jude's Catholic Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. If you live in an older home near St John The Evangelist, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

What else we do in Fareham
Before and after the survey
There’s plenty you can do without going near the roof. Here’s what helps most:
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Let us know the exact address as you book
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to go through what the drone showed. It is a chance to ask about anything in the report.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
How we price drone roof surveys
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:
- The shape of the roof and its details
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- Which survey package you book
Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both including VAT. You will know the exact price before booking.
What we need to know
Before you get in touch, it is useful to have:
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from ground level or a window. To get started, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
What we can’t see
A survey is a close look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. Its limits include:
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. The full list of what we check.
Roof types and parts we check
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Chimney stacks
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
What happens on the day
On the day, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that is worrying you. We then inspect everything that can be seen safely, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where applicable. Most surveys take an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In Fareham, parking is rarely complicated, though it helps to know about driveways or restrictions. The inspection covers everything that’s safely in view from outside, from windows and from the roof space.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Let us know about parking near the property

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Fareham
Do you cover Fareham?
Yes, Fareham is within the area we cover. We work right across London and South East England. You can phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and a few details.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Fareham?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Solent Airport is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
What do I do with the report?
You’ll get the report by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We check the roof, not the whole building, and it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
How soon will I get the report?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. Each one is emailed, ready to forward.
Will I get photos?
Yes. The report includes photographs of what we found.
Are you insured?
We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Roof by roof
Valleys and parapet gutters
Some older terraces have a butterfly roof with a valley in the middle. You can’t see it from the street at all, but a drone shows it clearly.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. The drone sees them without touching them, so the survey doesn’t add damage.
