How a drone roof survey works in Gosport
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. If a drone will not help on your roof, we’ll say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs, and people most often book us about wind damage high on the roof and lead work pulling away at abutments.
Older homes in a town like Gosport may lose heat through roofs with little or no insulation. Thermal imaging can show where heat escapes, and it can also point to damp patches. What it shows is surface temperature, not water itself, so findings are checked with moisture readings, while drone photos show the outside of the same roof. Results depend on the conditions, which is why the date is chosen with care.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent, whichever applies.

Leave it or get it looked at?
Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Finding them now means less to put right, whatever height the roof is. Around Gosport, gutters that overflow soak the wall below. A slipped tile or worn flashing does the same higher up. Left alone, both only get worse.
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.

Useful tips for Gosport property owners
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Tips:
- Let us know what you want to see
- Check the loft can be reached
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Book early if you’re near an airport
The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. The photos show the location and extent of every problem.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.
Drone roof surveys around Gosport
Gosport lies within about 2 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain. Solent Airport is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight.
Shop and office owners around Tricorn Centre may find that a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it. Hotels and guest houses near Gosport can’t easily close rooms for a leak, so it’s worth knowing the roof’s condition. For an older house near a landmark such as St Faith's Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
It is a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. Its limits include:
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission

Common questions in Gosport
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Gosport?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Gosport?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Solent Airport is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. We look at the parts we’re given access to, and the report makes that clear.
How experienced are you?
More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years, across London and South East England.
Do you look in the loft space?
Where it is relevant to the survey and there is safe access, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps, and if the loft cannot be reached safely, the report says so.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you when booking.
What insurance do you have?
Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Can I check my roof myself?
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
A lot can be seen from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
What happens on the day
It helps to start with what’s prompted the survey: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. The visit usually takes about 1–2 hours at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. For a visit in Gosport, we need access to the loft, any rooms with leaks or stains, and the outside of the building. If there is a side gate or a rear garden, let us know how to reach it. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Before the survey
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
