Drone roof survey in Bridgemary: what you get
The weather decides whether a drone can fly. We don’t fly in strong wind or heavy rain, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the day turns out unsuitable, we will talk about another date or inspect what we can by other means. We check the forecast ahead of the visit and again on site. Calm, dry conditions give the sharpest close-up photos. A short delay is better than a rushed flight. Common reasons to book are plant growth and moss on the roof and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, across fragile roofs, tall and steep roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.
In smaller places like Bridgemary, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from the ground. The parts you cannot see, such as rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. The forecast decides the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Close-up images frequently show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that cannot be judged properly from ground level.
It isn’t only a list of defects. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, so you can decide what to do next.

How the survey changes by roof type
Valleys and parapet gutters
Valleys and parapet gutters are hidden from the street. From above, we can see the linings, the joints and any debris.
Large commercial roofs
Fragile roof sheets and roof lights can be dangerous to walk on. A drone keeps everyone off them.

Bridgemary: your questions answered
How do I find out if my home in Bridgemary is listed?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Are there drone restrictions around Bridgemary?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Bridgemary is about 2 miles from Solent Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
Are you insured?
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
Do you need to get into the loft?
If it’s needed and safe to reach, yes. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement.
What happens next?
The report arrives by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.
What’s in the report?
Written findings with photos, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, by urgency where it matters. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.
What if it rains on the day?
Light rain doesn’t typically stop a survey. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so if conditions aren’t right we will arrange another day with you.
The survey, step by step
The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. It usually takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. A visit to a smaller place like Bridgemary is no different on the day: outside, inside and from any safe vantage point, in that order. It is useful to show us anything you’ve already noticed.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at

For landlords and managing agents
A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work around your tenants.
Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
Drone roof surveys in Bridgemary: local notes
Bridgemary is within about 2 miles of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Bridgemary is about 2 miles from Solent Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly.
Anyone responsible for a site like Rowner Junior will know that thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. For businesses in and around places such as Fareham Shopping Centre, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it. If your house is among the older ones in the streets near St Matthew's, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What you can safely check yourself
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That is where a survey comes in.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
What this survey cannot tell you
To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.

What happens if roof problems are left?
Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It’s useful for planning maintenance over the years. In a smaller place like Bridgemary, wherever a roof is exposed, a loose ridge or flashing doesn’t stay loose for long. Wind gets under it and lifts more, and water follows.
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.
