About our drone roof survey in Rowner

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you’re worried about hidden gutters full of leaves and chimney tops in poor condition, we can find out what’s behind it, on fragile roofs, tall and steep roofs and valleys and parapet gutters alike.

Places like Rowner can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.

Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Common questions in Rowner

Is drone flying allowed in Rowner?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Solent Airport is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.

Do you cover smaller places like Rowner?

Yes. Rowner is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Will I get photos?

Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and they go into the written report.

How many surveys have you done?

More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years.

What if it rains on the day?

Light rain is typically fine; heavy rain and wind are different. In high wind or heavy rain, a drone can’t fly and access may not be safe, and we’d agree another day.

What’s in the survey report?

It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos. The most urgent items are made clear.

Why act early in Rowner

On a tall building, problems are often found only when water comes in. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. A drone survey finds them sooner. Homes in smaller places like Rowner can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Wind gets under it and lifts more.

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we’ll tell you which fits.

Roof by roof

Large commercial roofs

Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. The drone covers the roof area by area.

Steep slate and tile slopes

On slate roofs, slipped slates frequently point to corroded nails. We can see the extent of it from above.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

A lot can be seen from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please do not climb up for a closer look.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Rowner?

Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Debris collects where nobody looks, until it causes a leak inside. A drone shows them clearly from above.

Look out for signs like these:

  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
  • Ridge pieces that have lifted
  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof

The streets around a church such as St Matthew's are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

What’s in a roof survey

For landlords and managing agents

Letting agents frequently book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

With a portfolio of properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To arrange surveys for several addresses, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

What we do, step by step

Before we start, tell us why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. Most visits take between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a smaller place like Rowner, as anywhere, the forecast plays a part: drone flights and thermal imaging need the right conditions, while a look from the ground and the loft can go ahead in most weather.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Tell us where we can park nearby
  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at

Advice

Airspace, weather and Rowner roofs

Rowner is within about 2 miles of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Rowner is about 2 miles from Solent Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly.

If you run a business near Fareham Shopping Centre, big, flat commercial roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images help most. If you look after a building such as Bridgemary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Rowner is about 2 miles north-west of Gosport, in Hampshire. We visit Rowner as part of our work across Hampshire, for houses, flats and commercial buildings. Rowner is one of the towns and villages in Hampshire we cover.
