Drone Roof Survey in Harestock
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach for Harestock and the rest of Hampshire. We survey seven days a week.
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
What we cannot see
Every survey has limits, and it’s better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.

Drone roof survey in Harestock
From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it cannot see under the coverings or into the loft. We check the loft from inside where it’s safe, since that’s where leaks and condensation frequently show first. Together, the two give a fuller picture. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. If there is no safe loft access, the report says so. Common reasons to book are wind damage high on the roof and flashings that have come away, across tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks.
Around Harestock, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Calm, dry weather suits both methods, so the date is set with the forecast in mind.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

How the survey changes by roof type
Large commercial roofs
Many commercial roofs have fragile sheets or roof lights. With a drone, nobody has to go near them.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Valleys and parapet gutters are hidden from the street. From above, we can see the linings, the joints and any debris.
Checking the roof from the ground
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.
A lot can be seen from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.

Common questions in Harestock
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Harestock?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
How do I find out if my home in Harestock is listed?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
When does the report arrive?
Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. All of them come by email, ready to forward.
Will you check the loft?
If the survey needs it and the loft space can be reached safely, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps, and if the loft cannot be reached safely, the report says so.
How do I book a survey in Harestock?
Just call 07833 053749 or send us an email. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access.
What we do, step by step
The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photographs go into the written report. The visit typically takes between one and two hours at a typical home, or half a day or so for a commercial building. Being in a smaller place like Harestock does not change how the visit works: outside, inside and from any safe vantage point, in that order. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
How to prepare
- For flats, check roof access has been agreed
- Let us know where we can park nearby
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
How to book
Booking is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or email us, let us know about the property and we’ll explain which survey suits. We confirm the price before anything is booked.
Advice
Drone roof surveys in Harestock: local notes
We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
The streets around a church like Saint Barnabas are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. Anyone responsible for a site like Harestock Primary School will know that big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.

Practical tips
Nothing here needs a ladder. Our suggestions:
- Tell us the exact address as you book
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
- Tell us about any leaks or concerns
The Premium Survey report comes the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible, alongside the other checks in the package.
Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Many leaks start with a blocked outlet.
Why get it checked now?
From ground level, you are guessing about most of a tall roof. A drone replaces that guesswork with clear photographs. Seeing the problem makes it easier to decide what to do. Arranging work in a smaller place like Harestock is easier with notice than in an emergency. Knowing early gives you time to get the right people in.
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Our price is from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.
