Drone Roof Survey in Vines Cross
Get a clear view of the roof at a property in Vines Cross from an independent roof surveyor. We visit on weekdays and at weekends.
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
Honest limits
We only report what can be seen safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- A flight where airspace permission is refused

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Vines Cross
We carry out drone roof surveys in Vines Cross and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, phone 07833 053749 or email us. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, tall and steep roofs and fragile roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are slates or tiles shifted by high winds and ponding and splits on a high flat roof.
Somewhere as small as Vines Cross, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from ground level. Weather and airspace are checked ahead of the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

How we price drone roof surveys
To price your survey, we look at:
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
Helping us price your survey
To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
Our phone lines are open seven days a week. For a price or to book, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
What you can safely check yourself
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Why act early in Vines Cross
A drone record gives you a baseline. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It helps when you plan ahead. Older cottages and farmhouses around Vines Cross can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how safely it can be seen. Our price is from £400, including VAT.

What happens on the day
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available. Most surveys take about one to two hours for most houses, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. In a hamlet or village like Vines Cross, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
Getting a price
A quick phone call is normally the easiest start: call 07833 053749 or email us, and we will ask about the building and what you need. You will have a price before anything is arranged.
Advice
Common questions in Vines Cross
Is drone flying allowed in Vines Cross?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Vines Cross?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
How long does the survey take?
Time on site depends on the roof; most visits take an hour or two for most houses, and more on a big or complicated roof. The written report follows by email.
Will you walk on the roof?
Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where it applies let us see the rest, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
How do I book a survey in Vines Cross?
Just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day.
Do you need to get into the loft?
If it is needed and safe to reach, yes. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, with 98% customer satisfaction.
Drone roof surveys in Vines Cross: local notes
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Historic houses such as Horselunges Manor, about 3.6 miles south, show how far back building in the area around Vines Cross goes. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs.
The streets around a church such as The Parish Church of St Mary are often among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Take a building like Maynards Green Community Primary School: big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses
If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed in advance. Surveys run on any day of the week, which can make access easier.
Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer, and they’re priced for the size.
