Electronic leak detection in Rushmoor, Surrey
Get a clear view of the flat roof membrane at a property in Rushmoor from an independent roof surveyor. Visits run on weekdays and weekends, in the daytime.
- Leaks through a covered membrane
- Leaks showing away from the breach
- A flat roof leak that cannot be traced
Tips from our surveys
Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:
- Have roof specifications to hand
- Keep outlets clear of debris
- Test new membranes before covering them
- Keep a note of leaks after rain
If water has been getting in, insulation under the membrane may be wet. Your roofer can advise on that and other checks can help judge it.
Keep people off the flat roof unless they need to be there. Feet and dropped tools are a common cause of holes.
Electronic leak detection in Rushmoor
Electronic leak detection works on many flat roof membranes, on homes, blocks and commercial buildings. It helps trace a leak you already have or check a new membrane before handover. Each roof is quoted on its size and build-up. We can test on weekdays and at weekends when conditions allow. Tell us about your roof to find out more. Common reasons to book are leaks under green or ballasted roofs and new roofs to check before paving or planting, across liquid-applied waterproofing, green roofs and commercial flat roofs.
Older buildings in small places like Rushmoor may be listed or in a conservation area, and that can affect how an extension roof or dormer is re-covered. If you’re planning work, check with the council first. Finding out what state the roof is in gives you the facts to plan with. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent.
Findings are set out part by part, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

Different roofs, different checks
Bituminous membranes
Bituminous felt and modified bitumen membranes are common. Whether ELD suits them depends on the build-up.
Inverted and paved roofs
We’ll tell you if your inverted or paved roof isn’t suitable.
Checking the roof from the ground
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
Local flat roofs in Rushmoor
Older houses across Surrey frequently have handmade clay tiles, and many have tile-hanging. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. Mixed in with those pitched roofs are lots of flat ones, over rear extensions, dormers, garages and shops. With Farnham Castle about 4.8 miles north-west, Rushmoor sits in an area with a long building history. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs.
If you own a rental within reach of Farnham station, flat roofs over rear additions and dormers in rented property are worth checking between tenancies.

Surveys for landlords and agents in Rushmoor
Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget.
A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work around your tenants.
Honest limits
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- Sections we can’t safely access
- The extent of water in the insulation
- Leaks from plumbing or windows
If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.
What we check
- Liquid-applied waterproofing
- Single-ply roofs
- Roof terraces and balconies
- Green roofs
- Flat roof membranes
- Commercial flat roofs
How the survey works
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we will get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes a time that depends on the membrane area and the build-up, which we set out in the quote. Somewhere like Rushmoor needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it is safe.
- We start by finding out what the roof is made of and where it leaks.
- We check that the membrane and build-up suit electronic leak detection.
- We pick the low-voltage or high-voltage method that suits the roof.
- We test the membrane and find where current is passing through it.
- We send a report with photos of each breach so your roofer can repair it.
Preparing for the visit
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- If you are buying, check with the agent that we can get in
How to book

Rushmoor: your questions answered
Is Rushmoor within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.
Is Rushmoor in the area you cover?
Yes, Rushmoor is within the area we cover. We work right across London and the South East. You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we will talk through which survey suits.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only where it is safe to do so. We look at everything that can be seen safely: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
How soon will I get the report?
Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs such as sagging are noted, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Just say which days work for you.
Are you insured?
We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
