Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Rushmoor
Every flight starts with an airspace check. Flight restriction zones around airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and London City need permission from the airport or air traffic control. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If permission isn’t given, we inspect by other means and explain why. Prison sites also have drone restriction zones. We are often asked to look into moss and weeds taking hold up top and outlets choked with leaves and silt, on valleys and parapet gutters, flat roofs on upper floors and fragile roofs.
In a small place like Rushmoor, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
The report is written in plain words, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photo where possible.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
How the survey works
There is not much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes about 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. In a hamlet or village like Rushmoor, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- We also look inside the roof space where it’s safe.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in

FAQs for Rushmoor
Is my home in Rushmoor listed or in a conservation area?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.
Will you come out to Rushmoor?
Yes. Rushmoor is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work right across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
How fast do I get the report?
That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. Reports are sent by email.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs like sagging are noted, but we don’t provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. If one is needed, the report says so.
Will you photograph next door’s garden?
We point the camera at your roof only. Neighbouring homes and gardens are not the subject, and flights are kept short. A quick word with the neighbours is a good idea.
Can a drone see inside my loft?
No. The drone sees the roof from outside only. The loft space is checked separately, where there is safe access, as damp and daylight frequently show there first.
Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?
Yes, we are. Our Flyer ID and Operator ID come from the CAA, and we fly a drone that weighs under 250g, kept within sight on every flight.
Surveys for landlords and agents in Rushmoor
If you own several properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To discuss a number of properties, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the addresses.
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out by urgency where it matters, which helps with budgets and planning.
What happens if roof problems are left?
Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. You can show exactly where the problem is, which helps when you ask for quotes. For older village homes like those around Rushmoor, the right replacement materials aren’t always easy to find quickly. That’s one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Rushmoor
Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. A drone gets close-up views from a safe position on the ground.
It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
Whatever the street in Rushmoor, a roof costs least to look after when faults are caught early.
