Gutter surveys for homes and businesses in Rushmoor
This survey covers rainwater above ground, from the gutters down to where the downpipes meet the ground. It isn’t a CCTV drain survey and we can’t see inside buried drains. If the problem looks like a blocked or broken drain below ground, the report will say so, with a suggestion to book a separate drain survey. Anything we find above ground, like a split hopper or a leaking downpipe, is photographed and recorded. If you are worried about brackets that have dropped or snapped and downpipes that are split or coming away, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on parapet and box gutters, eaves gutters and valley gutters alike.
Some older homes in villages like Rushmoor are listed or in a conservation area. If yours is, re-roofing in different materials may need consent, so the council is the place to check. Knowing the roof’s condition helps you plan ahead with that in mind. Where a building is listed, matching the existing roof materials is often expected.
Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

What a gutter survey does not cover
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:
- The inside of a downpipe along its whole length
- Confirming asbestos in older rainwater goods
- Underground drains, which need a CCTV drain survey
If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

- Outlets and hoppers
- Downpipes
- Eaves gutters
- Fascias and soffits
- Parapet and box gutters
What happens on the day
On the day, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you’d like to know. After that, we look at everything we can see safely, from the ground, from windows, in the roof space and by drone where it applies. Most surveys take an hour or two for most homes, and longer where there are parapet, valley or box gutters to follow. Older roofs in small places like Rushmoor can have low, tight loft spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- We start by hearing about any drips, overflows or damp patches.
- The eaves gutters, downpipes and fascias are checked from the ground and vantage points.
- Valley, parapet and box gutters are inspected as far as they can be seen safely.
- We look in the loft space, where there is safe access, for signs of water getting in.
- We send a written report with photos and clear recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Let us know about parking before the day
Getting a price
If you are buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there is time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.

Useful tips for Rushmoor property owners
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week, before and after a survey:
- Keep climbers away from the eaves
- Watch ceilings under valley gutters for fresh marks
- Book gutter clearing once a year, more often near trees
- Make sure downpipe clips are holding
You receive a report with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency where relevant. Share it with a contractor of your choice so they know what needs doing.
Look at the gutters from indoors or the ground when it pours. Water spilling over the edge or out of a joint is a sign that something needs attention before damage builds up.
Rushmoor: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Rushmoor?
Yes, Rushmoor is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Rushmoor?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Can a gutter survey explain damp on my walls?
Leaking gutters and downpipes are a common cause of damp walls, and we check for exactly that. If the evidence points elsewhere, we will say so, based on what we can see.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Where it helps and the rules allow, yes. Our sub-250g drone is flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID, and every flight depends on the airspace and the weather.
Will you photograph what you find?
Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and they go into the written report.
What insurance do you have?
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. If you need details for a managing agent or a building owner, just ask.
Will you look at parapet and box gutters as well?
Yes, as far as they can safely be seen. We use the ground, windows, the roof space and the roof where it is safe and a drone where it applies.
Why act early in Rushmoor
A dripping joint or sagging bracket won’t get better on its own. Every downpour adds to the damage, on walls, timber and sometimes inside. A survey now tells you what needs doing and how urgent it is. In a place like Rushmoor, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. It’s worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.
Our price is from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on the size and height of the roof, access and which survey you book.

Gutter surveys in Rushmoor: local notes
Farnham Castle, about 4.8 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Rushmoor. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, like lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Many older homes in Surrey have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. On roofs like these, good slates or tiles can outlast the nails, battens, lead and mortar around them.
For landlords with property near Farnham station, a dated record of the roof is useful when planning maintenance across a let. If you live near a park such as The Flashes, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys, and an overflowing gutter soon means a wet wall.

Plastic (uPVC) gutters
Many homes have plastic gutters and downpipes. As the seals age, joints can start to drip, and brackets can sag under load.
Box and secret gutters
A box gutter is built into the roof, often behind a parapet, so overflows can end up inside. We check them where they can safely be seen.
