Teasley Mead Flat Roof Survey
Flat roof surveys in Teasley Mead from an independent, experienced roof surveyor. Over 5,000 surveys and 20+ years behind us.
- Raised blisters across the surface
- Ponding water that doesn’t drain away
- A sagging deck under the covering
Tips from our surveys
Some practical points come up on survey after survey. They apply to most roofs:
- Ask whoever fits equipment on the roof to make good the covering
- Check the outlets after the leaves fall
- Note the date and type of any roof work
- Have the roof looked at again after a severe storm
Questions about the findings are always welcome. Standard Surveys come with a follow-up consultation, and Premium Surveys with an in-person one, giving you a chance to go through what we found.
After heavy rain, look at the roof from an upstairs window if you can. Water still lying a day or two later is worth getting looked at.
Flat roof survey in Teasley Mead: what you get
We inspect a flat roof from wherever it can be seen safely: from the roof itself where that’s safe, from windows and nearby vantage points, and from inside where there is access. Fragile rooflights and fragile sheets are never walked on. Where any area can’t be viewed safely, we say so in the report, so you know exactly what was covered. Common reasons to book are blocked or damaged outlets and failed upstands where the roof meets a wall, across upstands and outlets, felt flat roofs and GRP fibreglass.
Older buildings in small places like Teasley Mead may be listed or in a conservation area, and that can affect how an extension roof or dormer is re-covered. If you are planning work, check with the council first. Finding out what state the roof is in gives you the facts to plan with. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photographs, emailed to you. It explains the condition of the flat roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

What happens if roof problems are left?
A leak over an office, shop or unit can affect the people and stock underneath. A planned survey lets you budget for work rather than deal with an emergency around the people who use the building. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Teasley Mead, driving rain gets into any weakness, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Flat roof survey starts from £150, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, inc. VAT, and we will tell you which fits.

Do you need a flat roof survey in Teasley Mead?
People go onto flat roofs for all sorts of reasons: to clean windows, fit aerials or air conditioning units, or reach a gutter. A covering that wasn’t designed for foot traffic can crack or puncture. New brackets and fixings through the roof are another common source of leaks.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Splits and cracks in the covering
- Damaged trims at the roof edge
- Failed seals around rooflight kerbs
- Standing water left after rain
If you own a rental within reach of Ashurst Kent station, a flat roof over a rented flat is easy to forget until the tenant reports a leak.
Before booking anyone
- Their track record with similar roofs
- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- What the report includes, and whether it has photos
- Whether VAT is in the quoted price
What this survey cannot tell you
In fairness, there are limits to any roof survey:
- A promise that the roof will not leak in future
- Testing older roof sheets for asbestos
- What’s under the membrane without opening it up
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll point you to the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and does not.
Roof types and parts we check
- Single-ply membranes
- Upstands and outlets
- Felt flat roofs
- Mastic asphalt
- GRP fibreglass
- EPDM rubber
What a flat roof survey looks like in Teasley Mead
Older houses across Kent frequently have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. Oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of the county’s older buildings too. Alongside them, flat-roofed extensions, dormers, garages and commercial units are common almost everywhere. Historic houses such as Groombridge Place, about 2.4 miles south-east, show how far back building in the area around Teasley Mead goes. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
If you live in an older home near All Saints, flat-roofed rear additions and dormers added over the years are worth checking.

Questions from Teasley Mead
Will you come out to Teasley Mead?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Do you carry out roof surveys in Teasley Mead?
Yes, Teasley Mead is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos.
Does the weather affect the survey?
Light rain is normally fine; heavy rain and wind are different. In strong wind or heavy rain, a drone can’t fly and access may not be safe, so we’d move the date with you.
How quickly is the report sent?
Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We point out what can be seen, such as sagging or deflection, but we’re not structural engineers and do not carry out calculations. If we think you need an engineer, the report says so.
Do you need to get into the loft?
If the survey needs it and the roof space can be reached safely, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Where it’s applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). It’s included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where it applies, the Premium Survey.
How the survey works
Once we’ve finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photos, emailed to you. On timing, it normally takes about 1–2 hours for an extension, garage or dormer roof, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial flat roof. Rural addresses near Teasley Mead can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- We agree the roof to be surveyed, its use and any leaks you know about.
- The roof is viewed from safe positions, including the roof itself where that’s safe.
- We check the covering for splits, blisters, ponding and wear.
- We photograph and record the outlets, upstands, trims and rooflights.
- A written report with photos and recommendations is emailed to you.
How to prepare
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
