New roof snagging in Bramshott Chase

How new roof snagging works in Bramshott Chase

We carry out new roof snagging in Bramshott Chase and across London and South East England. A visit normally takes between one and two hours for most homes, depending on how much new work there is to check. Everything visible from safe vantage points is looked at including by drone where it applies. A photo report follows. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. We survey loft conversions and dormers, ridges and verges and replacement roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are vents that weren’t fitted or are covered and tiles or slates sitting out of line.

Being in a small place like Bramshott Chase makes no difference to the inspection itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages with roofs you’d like looked at when you book, so the visit can be planned around them. Whether you’re buying or checking new work, the same care goes into it. Weekday and weekend visits are both available.

Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Why get it checked now?

Some faults only show when water gets in. Checking early gives you a record of the roof’s condition at handover. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

Prices start from £150, including VAT, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both with VAT included. You will know the price for your survey before booking.

Why book with us

  • PI and public liability insurance
  • Weekday and weekend surveys
  • Over 20 years’ experience
  • Every finding written up with photos

Should I look at the roof myself first?

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we check the roof.

Bramshott Chase: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Bramshott Chase?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.

Is my home in Bramshott Chase listed or in a conservation area?

For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.

Will you fly a drone over my roof?

Where it helps and the rules allow, yes. Our sub-250g drone is flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.

Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?

No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.

Do you get involved if the roofer disagrees with the report?

No. Our job is to report on the roof as we find it. A disagreement about the work is between you and them and our report gives you an independent record.

How do I book a survey in Bramshott Chase?

It’s easiest to call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Tell us the address and a little about the roof, and we’ll recommend the right survey. Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

When should I book new roof snagging?

As soon as the work is finished, and before the final payment if you can. That gives time for any snags to be put right.

What this survey cannot tell you

A survey is a careful look at the new roof, but it cannot do everything. The main limits are:

  • Repair costs for putting snags right
  • Areas out of view from every safe vantage point
  • What’s under the new coverings

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you before you book. What our survey covers.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Loft conversions and dormers
  • Ridges and verges
  • Flashings and valleys
  • New flat roofs
  • Replacement roofs
  • New-build homes

What we do, step by step

Photographs are taken throughout the visit, so the report shows exactly what we saw. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes about one to two hours for most homes, depending on how much new work there is to check. For a village or hamlet like Bramshott Chase, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect whatever is safely visible, inside and out.

  1. We agree what to focus on, such as a payment date or a warranty period ending.
  2. The roof is inspected from ground level, vantage points and the roof where safe.
  3. Each detail at ridges, verges, valleys and flashings is looked at.
  4. Debris and damage to other parts are recorded.
  5. You receive a report to share with your roofer.

How to prepare

  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building
  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand

Advice

What affects the price in Bramshott Chase

When we price a survey, we consider:

  • Roof area
  • House, block, shop or office
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Basic, Standard or Premium

To find out what your survey will cost, phone 07833 053749 or email us and let us know about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Getting in touch

If you can, have these to hand when you contact us:

  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
  • Your timetable, such as an exchange date
  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access

To book a survey, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. You will know the price before anything is booked.

Before and after the survey

Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:

  • Look for debris left in gutters from the ground
  • Watch for drips in the loft space with care
  • Let your roofer know an inspection is planned
  • File all paperwork for the new roof

Once the work is finished, check the ceilings and loft after the next downpour. Raise any new signs of water with your roofer promptly.

Keep an eye on the roof and ceilings in the first months. It’s simpler to raise problems soon after the job.

What new roof snagging looks like in Bramshott Chase

Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, and councils can also use Article 4 directions to control changes in conservation areas. Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls are typical of Surrey’s older houses. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old buildings in Surrey. Whether you’re buying or checking new roofing work, knowing the materials helps make sense of what the inspection finds.

Landlords with a home close to Haslemere station may find that it’s worth knowing a roof’s condition before you buy it, or before you sign off new roofing work on it. Take an older house close to Church of St Luke: the roof may have had decades of patch repairs, and the survey shows where they are.
