About our roof survey in Richings Park

We survey roofs in Richings Park and across London and South East England. We carry out surveys on weekdays and at weekends. We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance. You get a written report by email, with photos and clear recommendations. Houses, flats and commercial buildings all follow the same careful process. When you’re ready to book, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We survey flat roofs, natural slate and ridges, hips and valleys, and common reasons people get in touch are ridge tiles that have lifted or moved and slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles.

Older buildings in small places like Richings Park may be listed or in a conservation area. That can affect what materials can be used when work is done, so check with the council before planning anything. Knowing the roof’s condition helps you plan ahead with that in mind. Older materials like clay tiles, slate and stone are frequently matched when work is done.

We keep jargon out of it: if work is needed, the report says so clearly, and where it can wait, that is said too.

Checking the roof from the ground

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking and it will help the survey.

Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground.

What we do, step by step

We look at the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the roof space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. The whole visit typically takes roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In a hamlet or village like Richings Park, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We start by hearing what you’d like checked and why.
  2. We arrange a day that suits you, including weekends.
  3. We inspect from ground level, from windows, from the roof space and from the roof where safe.
  4. Every part of the roof is checked and photographed.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with recommendations prioritised by urgency.

Before the survey

  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Jot down any questions you want answered
  • If you’re buying, let the agent know when we’re coming

Booking a survey

Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from ground level or a window, and please do not climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Do you need a roof survey in Richings Park?

Blocked gutters cause a surprising amount of damage. Leaves, moss and silt build up, the gutter overflows and water soaks the walls. Valley and parapet gutters can overflow inside the building.

Problems we come across often include:

  • Flashings that have come away from the wall
  • Blocked, sagging or leaking gutters
  • Crumbling chimney pointing or cracked flaunching
  • Valley linings that have cracked or split

Frogmore House lies about 4.2 miles south-west, so building around Richings Park goes back a long way. If your house is among the older ones, the roof may have been repaired many times, and the survey records how each part is holding up.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Their drone registration, if they fly one
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection
  • Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Which limits apply to the survey

What’s in a roof survey

Leave it or get it looked at?

It is easier to plan roof work than to react to it. A survey lets you deal with things in order of urgency, rather than calling someone out after a storm. Older cottages and farmhouses around Richings Park can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.

Every price we give includes VAT. Roof survey starts from £150, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before booking.

Why us?

  • Two decades and more of roof surveys
  • Photographs and a written report every time
  • Prices that include VAT
  • Surveys seven days a week

Landlords, agents and block managers in Richings Park

Landlords and letting agents in Richings Park book surveys as well as homeowners. A report with photographs gives you a clear record of the roof, useful for planning maintenance.

A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work.

Roof surveys in Richings Park: local notes

Some villages in Buckinghamshire still have thatched roofs. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Whichever you have, the details that tend to fail before the covering itself get the closest look. Richings Park is inside, or right on the edge of, the flight restriction zone around Heathrow Airport. Where the drone is part of the survey, we ask the airport for permission first, and only fly if it is given.

Landlords with a home close to Iver station may find that the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as The Langley Heritage Primary, a written record of a large roof helps plan work for the holidays rather than in term time.

Richings Park is about 3 miles south-west of Hillingdon, in Buckinghamshire. We survey roofs in Richings Park and the surrounding area across London and South East England. We cover towns and villages across Buckinghamshire, from the larger towns to small villages. There is also a page for London.

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

Water that gets into a stack can show as damp in the rooms below. We check the flashings and mortar for the cause.

Concrete interlocking tiles

On low-pitched roofs, the laps and fixings of interlocking tiles matter. Lifted or cracked tiles are noted.
