Storm damage roof report in Beaconsfield: what you get
After a storm, it helps to have a clear record of what happened to your roof. We photograph the damage, describe it and note whether it fits storm damage, older wear or both. We’re not loss adjusters and cannot tell you if your claim will succeed. What you get is an independent view of the roof’s condition. We are often asked to look into ridge tiles that have come loose and flashings pulled away from walls or stacks, on slate and tile slopes, ridges and hips and flashings.
Strong winds lift loose tiles, slates and ridge pieces in towns like Beaconsfield as anywhere. Many policies treat gusts of about 55 mph as storm conditions, though it varies. A report setting out the damage, with photos, helps you explain what you’ve found, whether to an insurer or a roofer. Policies usually exclude wear and tear, which is why the age of the damage matters.
Where we cannot see part of the roof, the report says so. You’ll know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Common questions in Beaconsfield
Do you carry out roof surveys in Beaconsfield?
We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Beaconsfield?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
How do I book a survey in Beaconsfield?
Just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We carry out surveys seven days a week. To find a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where applicable cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.
Who handles emergency protection after a storm?
A roofer should handle temporary protection. If it’s safe, take photos before it goes on. We can record the damage in our report.
Does your report mean my claim will be accepted?
That is not something we can promise. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. What we provide is an independent record of the damage.
When you need someone else
It is a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. Its limits include:
- Negotiating a claim settlement
- Your insurer’s view of the claim
- Damage hidden under coverings or inside the structure, without opening up
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you. What a survey covers and does not.
What we look at
- Slate and tile slopes
- Flat roofs
- Flashings
- Gutters and fascias
- Ridges and hips
- Chimney stacks
How it works
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes an hour or two at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. A survey in Beaconsfield needs access inside and out, including the loft hatch and any rooms with damp. Mention gates, side passages and anything at the back. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- We start with what you’ve seen and any temporary repairs.
- We check inside, including the loft where there is access, for water damage.
- The roof is inspected from ground level, windows and the roof where it’s safe.
- We record fresh damage and older defects.
- You receive the written report with photos.
Before we arrive
- Tell us where we can park nearby
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
Book a survey
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just call 07833 053749 or send us an email when you are ready.

Wind, rain and roofs in Beaconsfield
Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Where water gets in depends a good deal on what the roof is made of and how it is detailed. The wider area around Beaconsfield has a long history of building, with Cliveden about 3.9 miles south-west. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, like lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years.
Anyone responsible for a site like Butlers Court School will know that water through a big roof can travel a long way before it drips, so the search covers more than the obvious spot. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Michael and All Angels, the leak may come from a chimney, a valley or tired lead rather than the covering itself. Landlords with a home close to Beaconsfield station may find that a tenant living with a leak needs the cause found, not just the stain painted over.

Can I check my roof myself?
A lot can be seen from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

Useful tips for Beaconsfield property owners
Small things make a difference, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Our tips:
- Keep invoices for temporary repairs
- Tell your insurer about the damage promptly
- Keep fallen slates or tiles as evidence if safe
- Read your policy wording on storm damage
Questions about the findings are always welcome. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.
Keep gutters and outlets clear so heavy rain can drain away. Overflowing gutters can make storm damage worse.
