Storm damage roof report in Buckinghamshire: how it works
Storms tend to find the weak points on a roof. Typical damage includes lost slates and tiles, lifted ridges, loose flashings and torn flat roof coverings. Trees and branches can also hit roofs in a storm. Our report records what has happened to your roof, with photos. Any older wear we can see is recorded as well. Typical surveys look at damaged pots on the stack and new damp or leaks inside, on slate and tile slopes, flat roofs and gutters and fascias.
Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof, but as a rough guide the survey takes about 1–2 hours at most homes; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. You’re welcome to ask questions while we are there.
- We note the date of the storm and the damage you’ve seen.
- The roof is inspected from safe positions.
- We record and photograph the damage.
- The report notes whether the damage fits a storm, older wear or both.
- We send you the report by email for your insurer.
What you’ll pay
Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Storm damage roof reports across Buckinghamshire: local notes
After a storm, owners across Buckinghamshire want a clear record of what’s been damaged, so the report can separate fresh damage from older wear where the evidence allows. The insurer decides any claim.
Our area covers London and South East England, including Buckinghamshire. Housing here runs from Victorian and Edwardian terraces to post-war new towns and modern estates.
Aylesbury: For site and facilities teams at buildings like Buckinghamshire UTC, water through a big roof can travel a long way before it drips, so the search covers more than the obvious spot. Shop and office owners around Friars Square may find that a quick answer on where water is coming in keeps a business running.
Useful tips for Buckinghamshire property owners
You don’t need to be a roofer to help. Here’s what helps most:
- Note the date and time you first saw the damage
- Take photos of stains and damp inside
- Don’t go onto the roof to take pictures
- Check how your policy defines a storm
You’ll need a roofer’s quote for the repairs. They can use our report to see what needs doing.
Keep gutters and outlets clear so heavy rain can drain away. Overflowing gutters can make storm damage worse.
For landlords and managing agents
Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, with the report sent to whoever needs it. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
With a portfolio of properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To discuss a number of properties, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the addresses.
Honest limits
No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Keep these in mind:
- The work of a loss adjuster appointed by your insurer
- How your policy defines a storm
- Damage hidden under coverings or inside the structure, without opening up
Why roofs fail
Some people book because a claim has been questioned. An independent report gives you another view of the roof. What happens next is up to the insurer.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Damaged flat roof membrane
- Gutters pulled loose in the wind
- New damp or leaks inside
- Holes or cracks caused by debris
What affects the cost of storm damage roof reports
When we price a survey, we consider:
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey

- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
Storm damage roof report starts from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on how big and how high the roof is, how it can safely be seen and the package you choose.

Common questions in Buckinghamshire
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Just say which days work for you.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you will need a RICS survey as well.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Yes, where applicable and safe. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where applicable.
What if the roof was already worn?
Wear and tear is usually excluded from home insurance. Our report records storm damage and any older wear we see, so it’s clear what we found. Your insurer decides how its policy applies.
Will my insurer pay out if I get a storm damage report?
That’s not something we can promise. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. What we provide is an independent record of the damage.
How experienced are you?
We have more than 20 years’ experience and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.
Who handles emergency protection after a storm?
A roofer should handle temporary protection. If it’s safe, take photos before it goes on. Our report then records the roof.
