Signs you need a storm damage roof report in Easington
Branches and trees often come down on roofs during storms. We record the damage and where it is, with photos.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Damaged flat roof membrane
- Gutters pulled loose in the wind
- Stains appearing after strong winds
- Slates and tiles blown off the roof
If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Parish Church of St Mary, old mortar, worn lead and slipped slates are the usual suspects when water gets in.

Storm damage roof report in Easington: what you get
After a storm, it’s useful to have a clear record of what happened to your roof. We photograph the damage, describe it and note whether it fits storm damage, older wear or both. We are not loss adjusters and cannot tell you if your claim will succeed. What you get is an independent view of the roof’s condition. Typical surveys look at damaged pots on the stack and lead lifted at abutments, on chimney stacks, flat roofs and slate and tile slopes.
Roofs in small places like Easington often stand in the open, where storms hit ridges, verges and chimneys hardest. Once water gets into older walls, it takes a long time to dry, which makes finding the cause quickly worthwhile. A written record also helps if you need to explain it to anyone else.
The report records the roof as we found it on the day. It’s useful straight away, and a good reference for later, for example when you want to check whether anything has changed.

FAQs for Easington
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Easington?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Do you cover smaller places like Easington?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
Who handles emergency protection after a storm?
Emergency temporary protection is a job for a roofer. Photograph the damage first if you can do so safely. We can record the damage in our report.
What if my insurer declines the claim?
Complain to your insurer first. If you are still unhappy, you may be able to take it to the Financial Ombudsman Service. An independent report can add to your evidence, but we cannot say how it will turn out.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. We use safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
How experienced are you?
More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years.
What’s the best way to book?
To arrange a survey, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We will confirm the price and find a day that suits.
The survey, step by step
The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the loft space if there’s safe access. In total, it takes between one and two hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. Older roofs in small places like Easington can have low, tight loft spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- You let us know what happened and whether a roofer has made the roof safe.
- Inside, we look for signs of water in the loft and rooms below.
- We view the roof from safe positions.
- We record fresh damage and older defects.
- You receive the written report with photos.
Before the survey
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

Advice
What a storm damage roof report looks like in Easington
The wider area around Easington has a long history of building, with Boarstall Tower about 4.6 miles north-west. On older houses around here, roofs frequently carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. A number of Buckinghamshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Each of these roof types has its own typical places for water to get in.
Anyone responsible for a site like Long Crendon School will know that a leak through a large roof is often found some distance from where the water shows inside. If you let a flat or house near Haddenham & Thame Parkway station, finding the cause of a leak fast keeps a tenant’s home dry and the work focused.

Honest limits
No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Bear these in mind:
- The outcome of a claim
- Repair costs or quotes for the work
- Damage hidden under coverings or inside the structure, without opening up
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you. The full list of what we check.
Roof types and parts we check
- Ridges and hips
- Flashings
- Chimney stacks
- Slate and tile slopes
- Flat roofs
- Gutters and fascias
What you can safely check yourself
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
What affects the price in Easington
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- House, block, shop or office
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- The shape of the roof and its details
Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. Size, height and access can affect the price too.
What we need to know
You do not need to know any roofing terms. Just let us know:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- The property’s address and postcode
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
If you are buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email when you’re ready.
