Our roof survey service in HP27
Good roofs last decades, but their parts wear at different rates. Natural slate can last 100 years or more, and clay and concrete tiles commonly 50 years or more, but the fixings and underlay beneath them often give out sooner. A survey shows which parts of your roof are wearing. Knowing that helps you plan work before it becomes urgent. We survey clay and concrete tiles, natural slate and flat roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are gutters that overflow in heavy rain and debris building up in roof valleys.
After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a report with photographs, sent to you by email. On timing, most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, depending on how many separate roofs there are.
- You pick the package that suits your roof.
- On the day, we start by hearing what you’ve noticed.
- Coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are inspected and photographed.
- Extra checks are carried out where your package includes them.
- The report is emailed with findings and recommendations.

Around Princes Risborough
In Princes Risborough, that means homes and buildings near St Teresa's Church, Princes Risborough Primary School and Princes Risborough School and the streets around them. Princes Risborough’s nearest station is Princes Risborough station, roughly 0.7 miles south-west. Other landmarks nearby include Great Kimble Dial Hill (1.9 miles north-east) and Stoke Mandeville Hospital (5.3 miles north). For a walk, there is Brush Hill Local Nature Reserve and Beacon Hill.
Roofs, chimneys and gutters across HP27
Owners across HP27, from Princes Risborough, Longwick and Monks Risborough to the villages, book us to find out where their roof stands. Small faults, caught early, are far easier to deal with.
London and South East England mix slate and clay tile roofs on older homes with concrete tiles on many later ones. Each roof in HP27 is checked with its age and materials in mind.
Princes Risborough: Landlords with a home close to Princes Risborough station may find that a dated record of the roof is useful when planning maintenance across a let. Take a building like Princes Risborough School: long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle.
What a survey costs
Our packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- How big the roof is
For a price for your roof in HP27, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and tell us about the roof. We’ll confirm the figure before booking.
Helping us price your survey
When you call or email, these details help:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
If you are buying, it’s useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there is time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form when you are ready.
What we are asked to look at in HP27
The underlay under the coverings matters too. Breathable roofing membranes came into use in the UK in the late 1990s, so many older roofs have bitumen felt underlay, and some very old roofs have no underlay at all. Felt that has torn or perished stops doing its job.
A survey can pick up problems like:
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Torn or sagging underlay
- Debris building up in roof valleys
- Worn lead at chimneys and abutments
Checking the roof from ground level
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us as you book.
Leave it or get it looked at?
It’s easier to plan roof work than to react to it. A survey lets you deal with things in order of urgency, rather than calling someone out after a storm.
Questions to ask before you book
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
- Are they insured for the work?
Useful tips for HP27 property owners
Small things make a difference, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Some pointers:
- Stay off ladders and the roof
- Hold on to the report for future surveys
- Watch for slipped slates after bad weather
- Ask about a flat roof on an extension or garage too
With the Standard Survey you get a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation. You can ask us about anything that is not clear.
Look at your roof from the ground after strong winds. Fragments of slate or tile on the ground mean something has shifted. Getting small faults fixed quickly keeps water out.
Common questions in HP27
What’s the best way to book?
The quickest way is to phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form. Give us the address and some details about the roof, and we will take it from there. We survey seven days a week.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. Where materials might contain it, we say so in the report so a specialist asbestos surveyor can check before any work.
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. We will talk about access when you book.
Do you use drones?
Where it’s applicable and safe, yes. We are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where applicable.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so the freeholder or managing agent needs to agree access. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.
Do you give a life expectancy for the roof?
Not as a figure. We describe the condition of each part of the roof and how it’s wearing, with recommendations ranked by urgency.
