Roof surveys for homes and businesses in Forty Green

We inspect whatever is safely visible: from ground level, from windows, from the roof space and from the roof where conditions allow. Premium adds thermal imaging, plus a drone inspection where applicable, for roofs that are hard to see well. All we need from you is access to the property and the loft. Everything we see is photographed for the report. Common reasons to book are blocked, sagging or leaking gutters and ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs, across clay and concrete tiles, the roof space and lead flashings.

In a small place like Forty Green, many roofs stand in the open, which is hard on ridges, chimneys, flashings and gutters. Older walls take a long time to dry once water gets in. A roof report shows what needs attention first. Lead flashings and old chimney stacks are frequently where weather gets in first.

The written findings come by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

How we price roof surveys

Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before you book. This is what makes a difference:

  • House, block, shop or office
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.

Getting in touch

A little information up front helps. It is useful to include:

  • How the loft is reached, if there is one
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • The address and postcode of the property

A quick phone call is normally the easiest start: phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email, and we’ll ask about the building and what you need. You will have a price before anything is arranged.

How it works

We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available. A typical visit takes an hour or two on an ordinary house, and longer for a large or complex roof. In a hamlet or village like Forty Green, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We start with the property details and any concerns.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
  3. Outside, we inspect from ground level, windows and other safe vantage points, and from the roof where safe.
  4. Inside, we check the roof space where there’s safe access.
  5. You receive the report with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency.

Before the survey

  • Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
  • Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at

Landlord and commercial surveys in Forty Green

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.

Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when booking and we’ll plan the survey around it.

What a roof survey does not cover

This is not a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • A promise that the roof will not leak in future
  • Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you before you book. What a survey covers and does not.

Roof types and parts we check

  • The roof space
  • Lead flashings
  • Natural slate
  • Clay and concrete tiles
  • Ridges, hips and valleys
  • Flat roofs
  • Chimney stacks

How the survey changes by roof type

Natural slate

Many Victorian and Edwardian houses have slate roofs. Widespread slipping normally points to corroded nails, and we say how widespread it looks.

Flat roof coverings

Ponding, blistering, splits and cracked surfaces are the common warning signs. We also look at the edges, upstands and outlets, since leaks often start there.

Can I check my roof myself?

A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.

FAQs for Forty Green

Is Forty Green within the area you cover?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

Can a landlord with a rental near Princes Risborough station book a roof survey?

Of course. Let us know whether a tenant or an agent will let us in, and the report can go straight to you or your agent.

Can you survey a roof I share with a neighbour?

Yes. We inspect what the owner gives us access to. Where a defect looks to be on the neighbour’s side, the report says so.

How do I arrange a roof survey in Forty Green?

Just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day.

What does a roof survey include?

Slates or tiles, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are all checked, plus the loft space where there is safe access. The report includes photos and recommendations.

How long will you be at the property?

Allow about one to two hours at a typical home, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. We’ll give you an idea of timing when you book.

Is your survey a structural engineer’s report?

No. If we see signs that need an engineer, like serious sagging, we will say so. We don’t provide structural calculations.

If your survey includes the drone, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Knowing the covering helps explain which parts of a roof are likely to need work first.
