Prices for storm damage roof reports in Duddleswell

When we price a survey, we consider:

  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office

Every price we give includes VAT, and the report isn’t charged as an extra. Our price is from £150, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.

Booking your survey

You don’t need to know any roofing terms. Just let us know:

  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage

Not sure which survey you need? The easiest way is to call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We will talk you through the options and what they cost.

Storm damage roof report in Duddleswell

A storm damage roof report is priced from £150. You get a written report with photos by email. It doesn’t price the repairs, so you will need a roofer’s quote for that. Your insurer may also send its own loss adjuster. Our report gives you an independent record of the damage and its likely cause. We survey slate and tile slopes, flat roofs and chimney stacks, and people most often book us about damaged ridges and hips and cowls or aerials dislodged in the wind.

Somewhere as small as Duddleswell, older roofs have often been repaired many times. A new leak may be fresh damage or the latest sign of long-term wear, and the difference matters, particularly to an insurer. We look at whatever is safely visible and set out what we find. Damp in old walls and timbers is slow to dry, so the sooner the cause is found the better.

The report is written in plain words, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photo where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

What we do, step by step

We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect whatever is safely visible, and if part of the roof can’t be seen, the report says so. The survey usually takes about 1–2 hours for a house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Older roofs in small places like Duddleswell can have low, tight loft spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. We only go where it is safe.

  1. We note the date of the storm and the damage you’ve seen.
  2. We look at the roof from wherever it’s safe.
  3. Each area of damage is photographed and described.
  4. We note the likely cause and any signs of older wear.
  5. We send you the report by email for your insurer.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Keep pets in another room
  • Make sure we can get to the back of the property

Related advice

Should I look at the roof myself first?

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

What’s in a roof survey

Why act early in Duddleswell

A clear, independent record helps you explain the damage to your insurer. It records the damage and what seems to have caused it, so you’re not relying only on your own photos. Older cottages and farmhouses around Duddleswell can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.

Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before you book.

What you get with us

  • Surveys seven days a week
  • Two decades and more of roof surveys
  • Thermal imaging and drone inspection where they help

Duddleswell questions

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Duddleswell?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Do you cover smaller places like Duddleswell?

Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you when booking.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. Access is agreed with you as you book.

Can you put a tarpaulin over the damage?

Call a roofer for emergency temporary protection. Take photos from the ground first if it is safe. Keep receipts in case your insurer asks for them.

Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?

No. This is a survey of the roof only, so it’s not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.

Will you fly a drone over my roof?

Yes, where it applies and safe. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where applicable.

Duddleswell roofs and the weather

There are about 500,000 buildings on England’s list of listed buildings, and around 10,000 conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, so the council is the place to ask. In Sussex, older roofs are often handmade clay tile, frequently with tile-hanging on the walls below. A few old Sussex buildings still carry heavy Horsham stone slabs, and the county’s older buildings include oast houses and Wealden hall houses. The covering and its details give the first clues when tracing where water is coming from.
